    Well, you can extend the number of games that can be used by changing the param.sfo if I don't remember bad. But you need a CFW installed in you PS3 to do it. And this method doesn't work for every game, even changing the param will not always work.

    This is called planned obsolence it's a companies tactic to make a higher profit here is a link with more info https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planned_obsolescence In my case I used to reinstall the firm twice a moth before it died but it was a cheap clone (the R4)
