I downloaded both nightly builds and none of them do anything on my R4 DS card that has woodR4 on it. Is there any extra steps? I just wanted to test some games is all and if I can't get it to work, I may as well keep using GBARunner2 to play Apotris until this is finished completely.

You'll need to install TWiLight Menu++, and then put "GBARunner3.nds" in "sd:/_nds/TWiLightMenu/emulators/", open "sd:/_nds/TWiLightMenu/settings.ini", and add "GBARUNNER3_TEST = 1" underneath the "[SRLOADER]" line.
You'll also need to place the GBA BIOS in "sd:/_gba/", and name it "bios.bin", as well as putting the .json file and "config" folder into the "_gba" folder.

Ah that's why it won't work on WoodR4 as it's built for TWiLight Menu++. Man I'm dumb. I'll try that when I can after I back everything up again. EDIT: It's all good now! Apotris worked perfectly and I will test out other games once I get more time down the line but I will still use WoodR4 to finish some other games first so I'll put this aside.

Where is the best place for feature requests? I would LOVE it if I could close my DSi and it would pause/sleep the game I am running. That would be a game changer XD

That feature has been added to the GitHub repo as a feature enhancement, so it may be added eventually yeah.

That is awesome! Being able to pickup and put-down play quickly and on the go is one of the best things about handhelds :D

I hope to become more helpful to this project (and a SNES Emulator) in the future when I am out of school. I really believe the DSi XL/LL is destined to become the best handheld emulator around. \m/ o \m/

Thanks! I got Apotris to run and it recognized my save file too. I also decided to move the gbr games into a separate /roms folder on the card so it won't get in the way of the main folder when I run some tests with other games.

EDIT: Hacks still don't work such as ones that add content and or are completely different games such as Castlevania Aria of Sorrow Reprise which turned the game into a roguelike.

Of course, please provide the text that needs to be translated.
I hope the next version can add support for Chinese characters in GBARunner3 (Chinese characters won't display as garbled text) and Chinese translation.

What do you mean? GBARunner3 doesn't have any menus implemented.

Gbarunner2 and Gbarunner3 are amazing.
Is it possible to speed up games that are slow in actual gba hardware? Like some 3D games?

It honestly should and I hope it does. It's absolutely miserable having to reboot the DSi every time you want to swap a ROM. Makes me just want to go back to GBARunner2 lol

A ROM browser is not planned, since GBARunner3 is meant to be used with frontends like TwilightMenu++ and another one that is in current development, there's also hbmenu which already supports argv. As for preferring a ROM browser over infinitely better game compatibility is beyond me. Btw, the project is open source, you are free to add the feature any time if you want.

fingers crossed this fix's the golden sun lost age issue with gbarunner2!! :)

It has been fixed since November 2023

Some 3D game may run slightly faster if their framerate isn't hardcoded. You can try Smashing Drive for example, which runs faster in DSi consoles compared to real GBA hardware.

Obviously I prefer GBARunner2 for games that GBARunner2 is compatible with. Lol. Currently, it takes about an entire minute to switch ROMs in GBARunner3 by rebooting the DSi, waiting for TwilightMenu++ to slowly load, then navigating using its cumbersome and laggy menu which often eats inputs.

I don't know how :)

You can turn off splash screens and then switch to a faster theme such as R4 or GBC. A rewrite of the akMenu/Wood theme is also in the works.

Splash screens are already all off. I'll check out the other themes, I tried those initially but didn't realize they'd help in load times so just stuck with the MKDS one.

But either way, even if the themes loaded faster, it's still much slower than simply using a menu within the emulator.

clearly not fixed, i tried it just a few weeks ago with Twilight Menu++ v27.0.0 and golden sun lost age crashs with weird music at the startup

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.

So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.

@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)

@Xdqwerty, Another being Pico VS Bear, the original 1999 version before Jim Henson filed a DMCA takedown.

@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
