Hey all, I haven't used the 3ds in a long time so I decided to update it. I installed the latest Luma3DS and BS9, then upgraded my emuNAND to the latest 11.17.0, my sysNAND is still on 11.4.0. When I try to use online features like the eshop in enuNAND it tells me that a system update is available. Why is this happening if I updated to 11.17.0? Do I also have to update sysNAND?

Update: Looks like this is happening when I patch the firmware for gateway.

hi everyone, need to go from gateway 3ds to luma, when i hold select and power on, it goes to regular home screen. but if i navigate to settings and profile and nintendo ds profile i see the dragon and the gateway 3d menu. from here i can boot into gateway mode. does this mean i do not have CFW? i last dabbled with this in 2017 so i forgot most of it. it is stock firmware v. 4.1.1-8u

You can follow this guide to setup CFW, base on your firmware you can use soundhax as entrypoint. https://3ds.hacks.guide/installing-boot9strap-(soundhax)

After hacking move your emunand to your sysnand.

I playing the EUR version of the game little battlers experience and there is no action replay code for infinite money like in the USA version of the game, could someone with knowledge in the matter take a look and see if they can make one? This is the action replay code of the USA version as a reference; [Infinite Money]

Please don't ask the same question in more than one place; it only causes confusion, especially if you leave out important information like the name of the game you are talking about.

If no one is replying, then no one knows and asking your question repeatedly is not going to help matters.

Hello,
Soru wondered where on the n3dsxl pcb there are managed power rails (3v3?) for hardware modding purposes. So far she has used the battery source directly, but well, that is a tad noisy.
Thank you in advance!

Not too fond of using Pretendo. Today I made the account on their website and linked it on my 3DS NNID. It went fine and decided to head to Miiverse to log in to my new account. 1 minute later, A communication error and sent me back to the Home Screen. Anybody who knows Pretendo more than I do knows what’s up? I thought it was Rverse getting in the way so I deleted the app, but still nothing happened other than a different communication error.

Is there like a userguide for Twilightmenu++? I still have my DS flashcart so I haven't been in any real rush to use it but I can't seem to find any info like compatability or say importing cheats and saves.
Also, is super ultimate injector the best way to play gba games even despite the lack of savestates or cheats?

I've been having some problems with my 3DS. My issues started when I was loading up Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, then used Checkpoint to try to back up my save file. After using checkpoint, I loaded up MH4U again, but my save data (and extra data) was corrupted but still playable (my save name was misspelled). After this, all the items on my home menu disappeared! While trying to figure things out, my games, apps, and menu theme reappeared but it crashed when I tried to launch any VC game (or even the power off screen)! I saved the crash dump (I don't know where it saves to) and started searching online to troubleshoot.

I started to follow a guide suggested to a user that suffered from the same kind of crash as me (/threads/release-godmode9-scripts-megathread.482150/page-9#INSTRUCTIONS) but I stopped at step 13 when the .cia tickets weren't in the folder the guide said they'd be.

Now the 3DS has an empty home menu again. I went to the official eShop to see if I could still redownload purchased software and I can! But none of the save data for downloaded titles is there anymore. Redownloading the games is annoying, but not the end of the world. That said, I'd like to recover save data if possible, especially my download copy of Omega Ruby. I've got some memento Pokémon that I'd hate to lose and the save data doesn't show up in data management. I also lost all of my streetpass DLC puzzles, but not the launch puzzles. Can anyone help?

The compatibilitiy list is trivially found with Google, so I don't know why you can't seem to find it.

Also, is super ultimate injector the best way to play gba games even despite the lack of savestates or cheats?
No, you should probably use open_agb_firm instead, particularly since it makes the save data much more accessible. (Also, New Super Ultimate Injector is preferable over other alternative injectors.)

The first thing you should have done is check your SD card, and if you haven't done that yet, you're probably only making your problem worse. You should absolutely have done that before messing with Godmode9. Was this not the first solution you encountered!?

Connect the SD card to your PC, copy everything off the SD card with Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier, format the card, test the empty card with h2testw, and copy everything back if the test is okay. If the test fails, you will need to get a new card. Even if you've been messing with other things already, it's not too late to do this.

I already tested the sd card with h2testw. it's all good. Never heard of Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier though. I ended up just copying the contents of the SD card to a folder on my desktop.

I have not. I specifically didn't redownload omega ruby, probably for the reasons that you're thinking of.

Was the card completely empty when you tested it? The test is not useful otherwise.

Well, if it copied without errors, then Unstoppable Copier probably would have been unnecessary.

It may be overkill, but if all else fails you can manually extract your save data and restore it with Checkpoint as in https://gbatemp.net/threads/restore-save-data-from-dead-3ds-2ds.606907/ . (Make sure you read the first few posts in the thread.)

Still need info about cheats and how to use the app, the wiki doesn't have a lot of info

I completely formatted the sd card before testing it as instructed in the original tutorial I followed. The SD card is fine. I'm certain of it.

I'll try to extract my saves when I get home tonight.

I want to format my new3DSLL but I don't want to lost all the installed games, saves and apps, is it possible to make a backup?
You are basically saying you want to delete everything ("Format System Memory") but don't lose (delete) any data because of doing that.
animiertes-verwirrt-smilies-bild-0075.gif

These two a mutually exclusive.

Of course you can (and should!) backup your saves with Checkpoint and/or JKSM. Installed titles can be dumped with GodMode9.
No problem backing everything up, deleting it and restoring games+saves afterwards.
The question is: Why would you do that? Are you bored?

No need to dehack, the system will brick if you uninstall cfw if the system was region changed. So you want to find out about that. You can read up on the hack your system have if you want.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
