Any way to actually arrange DSTWO plugins?

So, I have been pulling my hair out trying to line up my DSTWO plugins in order... Nothing I do seems to work. I read on here to "copy the files one by one" in the order you want, and then *voila* you have a neat and organized list. But this just doesn't work. Plugins just drop in wherever they please, it seems, deleting and re-adding doesn't help as even if it does move positions, there is no way to predict where it will land...

This just seems weird to me. there are little ini files for each one, why not just add a placeholder for position in the menu? I mean I don't know how to, but it seems like something they would have considered as *some* point. Idk. Is there any actual way of doing this? Have I just missed the solution in my search? its kinda slightly frustrating

I have no idea about what you're talking about tbh, but it gives me 'order of FAT directory table' vibes...

Maybe try DriveSort? It has helped me sort files (alphabetically or manually) on an SD whenever dealing with an old device that doesn't sorts the files by itself.

https://www.anerty.net/software/file/DriveSort/

Throwing it out there: maybe it helps!

If I understand your problem correctly, I think you must already know it but just in case:

Your plugins (.plg, .nds, .ini and .bmp) must be placed in a directory named _dstwoplug which itself must be placed at the root of your SD card.

The plugins are displayed in alphabetical order, you can rename the title of a plugin via its .ini file but it will only be the title, if you really want to align your plugins in a particular order you will need to rename your .plg files and .nds (of course the .ini and .bmp files with which they are associated).

What you can do is add a number in the name of your plugin for example: in alphabetical order your catsfc.plg plugin will be displayed before your DS2x86.plg plugin but if you rename DS2x86.plg to 00DS2x86. plg and catsfc.plg by 01catsfc.plg, DS2x86 will be displayed before catsfc.

Afterwards it is also possible that certain plugins are not renamable because by renaming the plugin the latter will no longer work, you have to do the test to find out.

oh, yes, I am in the _dstwoplug folder --

Im not sure what to say but, mine... Seem to jump around anytime I rename them, that's how Ive been doing it, but mine don't seem to care about alphabetical order. I just figured it randomly selected a spot every time it read a new plugin file, so I just began renaming the end of my plugins (and adjusting the ini files to match) from 1a - 1z.. It would hop spots every time it had a new name, but still not alphabetically.. I know it doesn't make any sense.

I cannot explain it. But it worked for me.. Just trial and error until I got a suitable spot.. My maxDS is named "zmsxDS1b.nds" and it appears after S8DS (just S8DS.nds) in my plugin list. idk why

Hm. I'll check this out since on a lot of flashcards it seems like the files are never sorted alphabetically. I guess this would fix that? I don't know anything about that, but I was more specifically asking for the Super Card DSTWO, if there was an easy way to order the main plugin menu. I read somewhere on here with the DSTWO for this menu you have to copy your plugin files one by one to achieve a desired order, but I thought that was just DSTWO weirdness, but I guess what your saying is it might be just because these SD's are formatted FAT32?
