can ps5 games update the firmware?

As far as I could tell, If you put in a PS5 game you are usually able to run it or it will ask you to update the firmware in order to play it. Will it update automatically from the disk? No I do not think so, I'm positive it will always ask first.
For example on my Offline 3.20 console it wont let me play the game without updating to 4.03 and Just hit no.
they will not update automatically. as per mentioned, they'll ask. you won't be able to play the game unless you agree to it though.
Nope. It *can* require a newer version of the firmware, but devs aren't allowed to do anything outside of the little installation and save data bubbles.
