Granted every homebuyer should do a little research on the history of the home before they shell out loads of money on it. Also every country needs a law for sellers not only to disclose if tragic death occurred in a home but if there has been violent attacks in it as well, fuck they own it after all! Why make people go through the headache of finding that out later?

Did you know there's a really simple test you can do to see if your house is haunted?

Have you tried getting Scooby-doo and the rest of the mystery crew to look into this? I hear they're great at rustling up spooks. Might be a good idea to start taking them along to any open house you plan to attend.

@Joom I know you're joking but dogs in real life actually have a very keen sense of smell and can detect negative energy.

I was being facetious because ghosts don't exist. Any "haunted" location can generally be chalked up to the <=24 Hz frequency many of these places reverberate due to their architecture. This sound frequency has been documented to cause paranoia, hallucinations, that feeling that you're being followed, and creepiness in general.

The rest is just your imagination because the human mind is more creative than we give it credit, and we don't like to accept that it's an organic thing that does stuff on its own. Point is, hauntings are 100% all in your head.

Also, at least in the US, by law realtors are supposed to disclose any violent crimes that happened on a property because it depreciates value. These things are public record, and home buyers are protected from being duped.

Pretty sure it's the buyer's responsibility to know what they are buying before signing the contract unless it's something they couldn't have reasonably known.

@Joom And what if multiple people experience the same thing? Both on the same occasion, or on separate occasions. How do you explain that?

@The Real Jdbye I did explain it; it's sound frequencies. In a lot of cases, people also tend to just be lying because we love telling mystifying tales. The phenomena of hauntings, though, has pretty much been debunked to death (no pun intended). It's all psychology that's been well documented.

@The Real Jdbye People are also very susceptible to the power of suggestion. If someone tells you a creepy looking house is haunted, and you're already in the mindset to believe this, you'll probably experience what you believe to be a ghost by going into said house.

Humans not being nocturnal animals also exposes us to the strong possibility of having nyctophobia (fear of what might be lurking in the dark). It's a survival instinct, and when in a place that's supposedly haunted, it kicks into overdrive.

I know that at the very very very least, in Pennsylvania, the seller must detail if the previous owner died in the house up for sale.
