Even though I stay at home all day because corona, I'm 100% more likely to play portable systems. Weird, I know, but still. Maybe one day I'll have glorious Dolphin on Android
Pikmin 1 & 2 are great games. And if you have a Quest 2, you can you the Virtual Desktop app to stream it to wherever in your house so it’s technically a portable theater. The Quest 2 also has a Dolphin build you can sideload (it isn’t in VR though. The only benefit is that Dolphin natively on the Quest 2 is the absolute best depth you’ll ever see on GameCube games. It’s so weird and cool)
Or well- setting Dolphin up on Android is super easy. And Pikmin works fine on both Vulkan and OpenGL
Or I mean- you could homebrew your switch and stream Dolphin to your switch so you can say you played Pikmin 1 on the switch ;3
Yee I tried the Dolphin Quest 2 port, started up Wind Waker. The cutscene was playing... and I thought- WAIT WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE THE CLIFF IS COMING AT ME AAAAAA
It’s like...
Games
With actual depth perception!
You can tell exactly how far something is from you. Even though it’s on a virtual flatscreen! Amazing.
And well-
Just overclock your phone bro
But uh well really- seems like your PC is the only option x3
The Quest 2 looks wayyy better-
The screen door effect is gone-
Tracking is better. But totally the opposite of the CV1. While the CV1 likes the least light possible, the Quest 2 likes an evenly nicely lit room. Can’t even see the controllers in the dark.
But
Less comfortable
Shit audio but it has a headphone jack (and supports Bluetooth)
To be honest- if you can afford it, I’d suggest getting it and just using the Rift if you wanna do a s u p e r long session. The Quest 2 has the comfort and audio downside- but everything else including whatever I forgot to mention is way better on the new headset.
Think about it this way:
The CV1 is 2016 technology. The Quest 2 is 2020 technology that just had some drawbacks for the price. Only one that can’t be completely fixed is the comfort. But wireless VR is also so much better. Turning in real life is infinitely more immersive
Basically- yes I would recommend upgrading. But if you can afford to, just keep the CV1 around for whenever you’re feeling nostalgic or wanna try something the Quest 2 can’t (for example 24 hour+ sessions)
Ech. My office isn't well-lit. I'm sad it doesn't support the CV1's trackers, that'd be so much nicer. I've got an amazon gift card laying around from Christmas so cost wouldn't be much of an issue. Maybe I'll try it out, see how much I like it, and if I don't, uh, tell amazon it totally arrived broken oh noooo I need to return it ;O; Oculus should pay you lol you market the Q2 well
Who knows- maybe someday I’ll become a VR news anchor- maybe even streamer! (Totally not foreshadowing)
Also- you can buy like $20 IR light things. Just put it in a nice spot in your office-
You won’t be able to see the light yourself but the tracking will work fine if you have those. (If you decide you want them I can give ya a link)
Also yea- sadly. I wish it did support the sensors- but I’m sure that’d be way too much bandwidth. VR sensors take up a f u c k ton- PC’s can’t even handle more than like 4 CV1 sensors-
@salazarcosplay, if you ask how am I, well... aside from the fact that i cant stop thinking about killing myself i guess im fine, and my throat got better
