Even with a controller or mouse smoothing? I wonder if some of the effects might be to blame too, like DoF or chromatic aberration.

Well...new-ish. Last time I played Dying Light I was still using an i5-4690K and GTX 970. Since then I've upgraded to a GTX 1080Ti and then a Ryzen 5 3600.

Ryzen are good cpu's but sometimes have issues.
I had a 3900x but I was forced to get a new cpu because I was having issues with my ram. Ryzen are more finicky with ram than Intel. Even if you get ram on the QVL list. My PC kept shutting off randomly.
I tried getting a 5900x but was sold out so I settled with a 5800x. PC works fine now.

@K3Nv2 I got some cheapies at wallys, that are pretty good, already have lost a few expensive ones (one falls out and gone, can't find) while cutting grass so bought some cheap ones, and of course never lose these cheap ones. (Cheap meaning only $35, compared to air buds which I only have 1 of 2 now)
