Money will never bring happiness by itself. Being independent in material things can put the mind at rest.
Money as such has no value at all. We accept it because we believe we can get things/services with it. A universal, abstract medium of exchange. If enough people, for whatever reason, stop believing in a currency, it goes hyperinflation. When it comes to the worst, gold becomes worthless because we can’t eat it.
