To be honest I stopped buying gaming stuff altogether. Since the pandemic the prices are ruined for good.
Just try getting a PAL version of "Symphony of the night" for PS1. No way I'm paying several hundred € for a CD which is about a quarter of a century old.

Eh, i usually buy a offical version if i can, or if its several hundreds of bucks i find a bin/cue and burn it to a Sony CDR and with a bit of sharpe or a sticker. BOOM a CD game i can run on those older systems

Well, I don't usually pirate anything (sometimes did "the try before buy" – despite being illegal, brought developers and publishers my money they would not have gotten else). Insane prices for retro games… forget it. No interest.
It might sound silly, but the inability to start CD-R copies on PS1 without some kind of mod taints the experience for me. Sega CD didn't have such a protection if I remember correctly.

I went to auction at a mom/pops video game store few months ago that was closing, and bought 11 slims for $200, 1 was DOA but 10 work fine. so hella deal. Already rgh3'ed 8 of them. But most younger kids don't even want anymore, unless it plays stupid "fortnight", or newer shit. -
