Every weapon and shield being breakable, no actual proper dungeons, no dungeon items or expansive list of gear/items, no Heart Pieces.

Even when A Link Between Worlds moved the usual 'dungeon items' to Ravio's shop, it still had things hidden in dungeons all the same - tunics, Master Ore, Hylian Shield, stamina bar upgrade.
BotW did not even do that.

Oh, and yes, ALBW did allow you to complete dungeons in almost whatever order you want (except for the Pendant dungeons having to be done before the Lorule dungeons, and needing to do one dungeon in order to unlock the Sand Rod for purchase), so the superior traditional formula could easily be quite open-ended.

As for exploration, The Wind Waker excelled in this, as it had around 49 islands/archipelagos to explore, and unlike BotW and TotK it was impossible for you to be lost, to not know what to do. Sure, that game's story was linear, but all the optional islands? Not in the slightest. It was way more fun exploring the Great Sea than trudging aimlessly through BotW's Hyrule.

And it gets even worse in TotK. Apparently Zelda has *gasp* short hair!

Edit: I'd like to clarify that this was sarcasm. Because it's a silly thing to get up in arms about. But I guess the subtlety went unnoticed by Mr. King.

@Ericzander Same with the Gerudo leader, what's-her-name. She got a haircut too, unfortunately.
...Long hair just looks better on girls, than short hair...
