I kind of understand the concept of how text based AI works but the image generation stuff blows my fucking mind. I literally can't comprehend how that works

I don't even know how it works either! It's always amazing how someone can put up a meme image and then the AI accurately draws it but with Irl elements inside of it. My sister showed me some results and it's insane.

Just a tool like the computer, the cycle goes on and on and on.

Artificial Intelligence is just a fancy name for a computer app and in my opinion, people give the name too much meaning.

AI just is a program that tries to solve a problem, and then when it gets a solution it just gets really good at it.

ChatGPT: Problem: "Hi" Solution: "Hello"

Midjourney: Problem: Problem: "Castle in woods, Digital Art" Solution: "Use a database of free royalty images, make a photo out of that"

I find it INSANE that people would think it's going to take over the world. It's just a cycle of new technology. Some people still don't understand that the computer is a TOOL. Is it going to take a few jobs? Absolutely. Is it going to take over the world? No.
