Oh, and my other bugbear was that the McGuffin everyone's hunting for is...a regular ol' Super Star, which ain't exactly rare in the games. Power Stars would've been a better alternative, I feel, since they provide a lot of power and are rare objects (only a finite number per game, as the main collectible).

The only problem I had with the movie was that the pacing was too fast for a movie, but for a movie based on a game franchise that usually ends within 5 hours or less with every game, I believe that that could be the reason

The problem I have with the Mario movie is that it didn't make me feel anything. It seemed to me like I was watching a minions movie with a Mario skin and some nice fireworks. Plot and characters were bland, the expression I believe is painted by numbers. There was no depth, I didn't feel compelled to rewatch it. In the long time since I watched it I didn't find myself reminiscing any of it. Just forgotten for good.

@AkiraKurusu Pretty much the exact same problems as sark. The movie has no substance at all. It didn't baffle me or suprise me, it was the kind of movie I'd watch as a kid and not remember at all a week later. I'd rather be baffled to tears than bored to tears.
Is FNAF the same? Did that movie have substance, even if it was sloppy? Or was it just empty and bad (or neither)?

After what you guys have said, I can honestly say the same thing. The only enjoyable factor that I've liked was finding out the references.
