I see... would be nice to at least have more people to play MH on the 3DS at least (literally only thing I ever still use my 2DS for):P Btw, how come you have a Japanese one?

Ah well, MH never interested me that much, although people constantly tell me to try it xD
Okai see, my other 3DS XL is getting really old and beaten up so I didnt want to put CFW on it. So I resorted to buying another very cheap 3DS I could use to hack instead. The Japanese 3DS I got was cheap, and it already had a 16GB SD card with it. So I bought it

Kinda caused more problems than installing CFW on the one you already had lol, but know that CFW is safe to have and if your old one ever dies, with CFW you have better chance of fixing it or at least salvaging the games/saves...

And MH is TONS of fun, trust me on that, I've been playing MH since day 1 it first came out in Japan on the PS2, that's ALMOST 15 years now, wouldn't have stayed around if it wasn't great:P

Yeah kinda realizing that now, but I dont regret buying it, I know once I get most of the problems fixed it'll be worth while! This is more portable too, since my XL has hinge cracks and I had to buy a Nerf case to keep it together... I know CFW is safe but Im just super protective of my XL because it means a lot to me. Games I play are starting to lag more than they used to.

Well considering I have CFW now I could go and find a CIA for it :>

Lag is probably just the SD card, system deterioration is really more like "poof, now doesn't work", not slowdowns... Anyway, you do you. And if you are willing to try MH, go for it! I really hope it's your kind of game, basically it's one of the very few games that start very limited and "boring" but pushing through those first 3-4 hours gets you to the best part that lasts for hundreds of hours!

For 3DS, you got 3G, 3U, 4, 4G, 4U, Generations and XX. G is the Japanese version of Ultimate (U) which is basically the enhanced version of the base game (3/Tri were for WiiU). Generations is like a compilation game from stuff from all past ones and XX (Generations Ultimate on the Switch) is the enhanced version of that but only available in Japanese (has english patch though).

Which do you feel you will like the most? The 3s don't have online multiplayer, only local, but 4/4G/4U/Gen/XX have online and tons of stuff to do. Gen/XX might be a fair bit easier and less "grindy" if you want to try those, plus they are the most recent ones.

All the games I use for my XL are cartridge, how does the SD card affect it? Yeah Im scared my XL will one day go "poof, now doesn't work"
Oooh so many to choose from ahhh. Well I could try the newer ones. What kind of game is MH anyways? I never really cared to find out ha...

Well, if it does but you have CFW, it might be possible to salvage some stuff from it or fix it... It's action third person with RPG elements. Basically you play as a hunter who goes out on the field and gathers stuff/kills monsters, then uses said stuff and monster materials collected to get equipment, then fight stronger monsters with said equipment and make their and so on...
ThoD
ThoD
Basically a loop of hunting, forging, hunting, forging, but there are other stuff in between to change the pace a bit and most monsters are a blast to fight! Also, it's not with levels or anything, so it really is up to how skillful you use your weapon to hunt when it comes to killing stuff quick and efficiently. Also, there are TONS of weapons to choose from!

I'll have to think long and hard about doing that hmm
Oh RPG elements? I like the sound of that!
ThoD
ThoD
The RPG elements are more like having a LOT of different equipment (like 3000 different pieces of armor for all 5 body parts and like 1000 different weapons), along with getting items from quests and killing monsters to make that equipment among other stuff. NO levels though, there's no "broken OP" just because you overlevelled, there are three "levels" as you could say in theory.
ThoD
ThoD
Base level would be playing normally throughout the game, then first ceiling being the best possible armor and weapon you can craft, with the second ceiling being literally up to you in the sense that the better you get at the game, the better results you will get, rewarding practice and patience, which is a key part of why I love the series so much.
ThoD
ThoD
If you know some Japanese or don't mind the "story" so much since the patch is only partial, I highly suggest just going with MHXX (Double Cross). Otherwise, you can go for either Generations or 4 Ultimate, both are good, but heads up that Generations while better for beginners can get kinda boring after a short while, while 4U can get tiresome during the endgame since it's 100% grind.
ThoD
ThoD
To give you a frame of reference about the difference between Generations and XX (Generations Ultimate), XX has close to TWICE as many monsters to fight, more maps, THOUSANDS more equipment and TONS of brand new AMAZINGLY fun monsters to fight against!:D
FarisMarie
FarisMarie
Well considering I'm gonna be a total noobie, I think I'll try out Generations first!! xD

Alrighty, you can always convert your save from Generations to X (Cross, Japanese Generations basically) then move it over to XX (Double Cross, Generations Ultimate on Switch) and continue playing there to get the extra content, so it's fine:P When you have it, let me know and let's try to play together some c:
