  • Upgraded my desktop from windows 10 to windows XP. It's blazing fast, I would really recommend for everyone to make the switch.

I have to use XP to run some old SDKs. Not compatible with anything past that. I might use 8 later but for now I can't do anything newer.

XP is great because it works with almost everything.

Yeah no, don't install 8 then, even 7 is incompatible with those old programs.

Although in my experience, 8.0 (strictly the 32bit version only!) has better compatibility than 7 (either 32bit or 64bit), but then you must change the non-Unicode language to Japanese or Russian to get some of those obscure programs working, but then most of them start working out of the box, no tweaking required like on 7.

Does anyone here have a DSi with ntrboot? I need help testing a region changing guide I'm working on. I think it's safe but I'd like to test before telling people to mess with NAND.

@Nikokaro I think "necromancy" is more fitting. 5 of the assembled consoles were dead when I got them, plus I fixed a bunch of the loose motherboards I have.

Though you're on to something with slaughtering and innocence. I have bricked and revived each on of these innocent consoles more times that I can count.

Come on. I'm being generous. I'll do you a favor to free up some space there. Send me the resurrected ones and keep the corpse parts, which you can always use in the future. 😖 😂 🤣

Hi. My DSi is currently using HWInfo from another console of another region... and it's working pretty well!
    rvtr
    rvtr
Played around with it more. Better said, I changed my serial number and region on NAND without issues. lol

Apparently my north american DSi is a japanese panda (VJF***********)
I wonder how much of a clone I can turn this into.
I hate retail prototype DSis. Who ever thought that was a good idea. Booooooo! I just want to sign things.

Pretty much just trying to install a usable menu on an autoboot proto DSi. ofc HWInfo has to be blank and everything has to be retail to make getting a new HWInfo impossible. AAAAAAAA

I got a good bike lock finally! Can't wait to get around town on my bike. I don't like cars so I moved to the bus, but the price is absolute shit for what you get. Costs more than toronto for buses that take 30-45 minutes and barely take you anywhere. Plus drivers that will skip you for no reason or not stop when you pull the cord.

    Biking is gonna be great.

Sadly (thankfully?) outside of toronto. We've got the shittiest bike lanes ever and the WORST drivers. Out bike lanes are strips of paint to mark the outside of the road that's full of potholes and roadside garbage.

Buuuuuut, the smaller roads I use to get to downtown are pretty great. Few cars and decent-ish kinda maybe bike lanes? Upgraded from paint to occasional bits of concrete that cars don't like driving over much lol

    The daily commute :D
Thank you [city name] for your great bike infrastructure. Also that little island is a bus stop... on the other side of a 4 lane highway pretending to be a stroad... with no nearby crossings. Gotta love this place so much.

Kinda sad there was no interest here. Though it might have been for the best. See how awful "news" sites got all the information wrong and didn't do even the slightest bit of research. Even if there's good information here, other sites will pick it up and twist it like always.

The DSi's product.log log tell us exactly what went on the in factory from the start of a DSi's life. The screenshot here is a log viewer from TWL EVA.

We can see the names of the specific tests run (TP_CAL, AGING, FINAL), what they were used for (the L in version means LINE), and when they were run.

Looking at the whole log can break down the process:

    BOARD: Unknown.
    TP_CAL: Touch calibration
AGING: General set of tests (CPU, inputs, config, etc) - unconfirmed
    FINAL: General set of tests
    MIC: Mic testing
    CAMERA: Camera testing
    WRFU: Wireless testing
IMPORT: Installs the firmware and additional apps
NCHECK: Confirms all other tests set up the DSi properly

    rvtr

IMPORT is cool. You can see it installed the 1.4.2U firmware, but then also installed the bundled DSiWare (photo clock, brain age, DSi + internet, etc).
