If by copying you just meant dumping it, then I'm inclined to agree. I always think of "cloning" a cart when someone talks about copying (creating a duplicate that actually can be run on the console)
He meant it looks like a chip that has the same TSOP layout as common NAND chips. However this...
I know my fair share of mobile forensics and chip off since this part of my line of work (no not for .gov). What I wanted to say was, that dumping a soldered NAND chip was way more difficult a few years ago than it is now - with plug-and-play solutions all over the place. Right now dumping a...
That's just basic security 101. The interesting partitions on the switch's flash are encrypted and protected bye a secure area inside the cpu. Dumping a flash is something you take for granted today. Just look at all those mobile phone chip-off forensic kits that are out there.
I would put my...
I would assume the following things:
a) the Chip hase some kind of CPU-Protection (like a SIM-Card or pay-tv card) only giving away its contents after being challenged with the right secret.
b) Dumping the contents bye tapping into an "unlocked" chip after inserting it into the console...
Hi,
Sky3ds could be blocked, since switching the game does not require the cart to be taken out of the slot. Also the original cart emulation might have some odd timings which might make it detectable. However the basic concept is not blockable. The tradeoff is the limited functionality. You...
Hi,
if the multirom selection is done via an in-console application it is detectable. The button pressing method of the sky3ds - in theory - is undetectable. Maybe Nintendo can detect the sky3ds by some odd timing behaviour like comparing read/write times from and to the cartridge...
The 10 game limit might be a practical one, since you change them with a button (try that with 100 games ;-)
However there is no technical reason I can think of to limit the cart to 10 games in total without being able to rewrite them. For sure WORM (Write Once Read Many) Memory exists, but...
Hi,
there is no need for nintendo (and non hacking users) to update the different IOS slots from within the Wii-Mode. If they wanted to update the wii mode IOSes they just can do this from outside with an WiiU-Update that integrates the Wii-Mode updates.
The WiiU system Menu could also...
Ok I think I get it. Once the wad is in the nand the wii automatically thinks it's legit and just boots it up, since the nand is not "portable" (at least for the normal wii user).
Because SD-Cards are easily swapped the wii checks the signiature at every launch ... ok.
thanks so far - I think...
Hi,
thx for the quick answer.
For my understanding:
- I can launch the games from the integrated nand because I patched IOS36 (restored trucha bug) when I modded my wii
- I need to patch IOS60 to launch the games from the sd card; because the wii uses ios60 for booting games from SD-card an...
Hello,
I got myself a nice 2yr old wii and softmodded it (bootmii as boot2; nand backup).
I also got my USB-Launcher and HDD working.
Now I want to install some VC Games. I know I can just use the VC-Game's .wad into my Wii's nand. But each game requires blocks and it takes spaces in within...
Your screenshot is sorted by the filesize.
The lager files are probably your roms, and the smaller ones could be system files or .sav files. I never opend a .sav with a text/hex editor, but perhaps it stores the romID and or rom name in it somewhere. There are also some .sav conversion...
I'm pretty sure your data is still there, but the filesystem itself got corrupted.
On shot would be to run chkdsk on your micro-sd. It might find your lost files and rename them to fileXXXX.chk
You also could try some data recovery software like easy recovery from ontrack.
the FAT file...
Hi,
I ordered mine from gamekool (HongKong) with the "cheapest" delivery method (registered air mail).
I ordered it on the 13th.
I got the shipment confirmation around 20th (because they had to process "tons" of preoders first...)
It left Hong Kong on the 23rd (Tracking at Hong Kong Post)
It...
I don't know if Nintendo signs their DS-Roms. If they are not signed, there is probable *no* way to stop flashcarts, since the flashcart just needs to emulate a normal cart. This shouldn't be way too difficult
Hello,
What are game-cartridges exactly - or what makes them special (compared to SD-Cards, CD-Roms and Hard-Drives)? Game Cartridiges usually have super fast Read-Only Memory (therefore also called ROM). Of curse current SD-Cards are a lot faster then ATARI ST Cartridges, but current ROMs are...
Ken secret tactic to expose them, "I was told you where a really bad person, now I'm not so sure." Watch who they tear into, that's the person who is doing that crap.
The shameful part is, I fell so in love with her mask. If I could find the real woman she pretended to be I would die for her without a moments hesitation.
