Tutorial Hacking the Wii U without a GamePad

I added a "Factory Reset" section in the guide confirming my experience with a successful initial setup after a factory reset using DRC Sim. You can still get the pairing code after a factory reset. You just have to make sure you have the proper video cables to connect to your TV so you can...

Tutorial Hacking the Wii U without a GamePad

The adapter I have, does not have an antena port. So, unless you're willing to open it up, and solder on an antenna port, then the answer would be no.

Tutorial Hacking the Wii U without a GamePad

All I can say, is I personally used that adapter, with a Ubuntu virtual machine, and it worked flawlessly. I'm currently using it with DRC Sims latest release, and it's working perfectly. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of testing with DRC Sim, and so far, only one confirmed working USB WiFi...

Tutorial Hacking the Wii U without a GamePad

I couldn't find a definitive list of what the chipset is for my Panda adapter. I ran commands lspci and dmesg in my ubuntu virtual machine, and all I could find was, Manufacturer: Ralink. In Windows, under device manger, same thing, most I could find was the manufacture name. Though the...

Tutorial Hacking the Wii U without a GamePad

You can't install Ubuntu like a Windows application. Ubuntu is an independent variant of the Linux operating system. However, you can run Ubuntu on your Windows PC by installing a hypervisor program such as VMWare Workstation (30 day trial) or VirtualBox (free), which gives you the ability to...

Tutorial Hacking the Wii U without a GamePad

That's a good point. I purchased my Wii U, used, and the seller never factory reset the unit. If I had a GamePad, I'd test it out, to see if I can pair with my console after a reset. However, I don't have a GamePad, and risk losing my ability to reconnect. In the mean time, I'll post a big...

Tutorial Hacking the Wii U without a GamePad

That's a beast of a WiFi adapter you got there. It is dual band, though I have no idea how comaptiable it is with DRC Sim. If you watched the video, it shows to run the installation script, which installs mostly all you need. There's just two other things to install in Ubuntu, which is JAVA the...

Tutorial Hacking the Wii U without a GamePad

As of this post, it's recommended to use the latest Ubuntu LTS release (16.04.2) and update it. That worked fine for me. Just watch the linked DRC Sim video tutorial, as it explains everything.

Tutorial Hacking the Wii U without a GamePad

OK calm down, lol, no need for any triggering. I posted that guide since I found it noob friendly, and I wanted to list everything I personally used to get up and running. I'll gladly list links to any alternative guides for others reading this to consider. Either post the links you want me to...

Tutorial Hacking the Wii U without a GamePad

**WARNING: If you’re purchasing a Wii U console without a GamePad, and intend to configure the console with DRC Sim, then first, thoroughly read the section titled Factory Reset Console.
