Homebrew Question How is Nintendo 64, Gamecube and PS2 emulation coming along?

Emulated clock speed works by lowering the internal framerate (I think). Definitely not good for fast response games like Melee. But it can help with audio stutter and smoothness if you don't want to stretch.

ROM Hack Found obscure audio format in romfs, don't know how to open, unpack, or edit

Oof, not sure if I can remember but it wasn't easy. Once you have the romfs extracted, you need to extract the ktsl2stbin from the SOUNDS folder (not asbin, not sure how to extract those or what they contain). Put this in a batch file and drop onto it (courtesy of somebody named "Pingu!" on...

Homebrew Question How is Nintendo 64, Gamecube and PS2 emulation coming along?

Is it really risky though? In Horizon you'd experience the same shut down if things got too hot (which they haven't for me at least). I don't imagine people would continually do that to their system if it were happening. Maybe it's risky for battery longevity or if you're using Lakka (not sure...

Hacking New to switch scene, overwhelmed :S

Definitely make sure you create a nand backup before doing anything (I store mine on Google drive ever since I lost my clean backup by dropping an external HDD). Then I would recommend Kosmos (atmosphere) for your cfw choice. The online updater is easiest for people who just want to grab and go...

Hacking Android OS on Switch Ultimate Discussion Thread

I haven't tried that game. People have reported good frame rates (I think?), so I would see their reports. Check your settings and make sure you're using the mmj build and the highest clock setting. Also underclock the emulated CPU until you have steady audio (at least for a baseline) Some...

You're welcome! Dolphin nightlies can be finicky. Be careful with that though my switch cranks up the heat pretty quickly.

Hacking Android OS on Switch Ultimate Discussion Thread

I don't remember how lakka performance was with Dolphin when I tested it, so I can't compare. But I had Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, Double Dash, and Melee(PAL) more or less playable. I even pushed 720 internal on some of them with minimal stutter after a minor emulated CPU clock (75%?). If...

ROM Hack Found obscure audio format in romfs, don't know how to open, unpack, or edit

Got it! Here's a sample if anyone wants to try it out. I replaced the main menu theme (which sucks in my opinion) with the Avengers (2012) theme. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out loop points, so it only plays once, but that's fine for menu navigation for me. I was gonna do more but since I...

ROM Hack Found obscure audio format in romfs, don't know how to open, unpack, or edit

So I made some progress. I was able to use a dsp to ktss converter to get the replacement audio into the same format as the extracted parts (ktss). Everything plays fine in Foobar2000. However, I tried to replace the contents of the original ktslstbin file with hex editor and the game couldn't...

ROM Hack Found obscure audio format in romfs, don't know how to open, unpack, or edit

Unfortunately they are only the same ktsl2asbin container. The hex headers inside indicate an entirely different subformat.

ROM Hack Found obscure audio format in romfs, don't know how to open, unpack, or edit

That's what I ended up doing. Now I'm trying to find a way to convert common formats back to the weird one so that I can repack a new soundtrack. The extension is .ktss, which is really .kns, a format used by Koei Tecmo. Problem is they don't seem to have a standardized implementation across...

ROM Hack Found obscure audio format in romfs, don't know how to open, unpack, or edit

So I was taking my first stab at making a layeredfs patch. I was hoping to make some audio mods to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 (seemed simple enough). For some reason the audio files in the romfs are either compressed or contained in this strange .ktsl2stbin\.ktsl2asbin format, which I have no...

Hacking Question How to merge two SD card's contents (Switch games)

I had the same problem. You can just redownload the contents if you've paid for them/can go online safely, or you can install the games and updates via nsp and tinfoil, now that you're using an exfat card. Nintendo says you can move contents between cards, but I think you have to do that before...

Hacking SWITCH NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

I tried combining the Contents folder of two separate SD cards that were used on my switch. One has some NSP data that I recently installed and the other has some game update data for some other titles. For whatever reason my Switch still didn't recognize the merged data from the old card. Could...
