Hacking [Release] ARK-4 CFW port for PSP.

Doesn't npdrm_free and nploader allow Adrenaline to load DLC?

Hacking [Release] ARK-4 CFW port for PSP.

The final release of ARK-4 is here at last: https://github.com/PSP-Archive/ARK-4/releases/tag/r42069 Includes DC10 and cIPL for all PSP models. Though it is the last main release, updates may still come in the form of revisions to fix bugs should they appear.

New CFW available for PSP 3004

cIPL installer gives you the choice if your model is compatible. DC will always use classic one when possible. Classic cIPL can be upgraded to new cIPL but new cIPL can't be downgraded to classic one without first uninstalling it.

New CFW available for PSP 3004

Personally I think if you have a compatible model then you should use classic one, but that's just my preference.

New CFW available for PSP 3004

Correction: you can install New cIPL on every motherboard. 1g, 2g, 3g, 4g, 5g, 7g, 9g and 11g are all compatible with new cIPL. I just haven't made the proper release yet cause I'm doing the last preparations (documentation, article at wololo.net, etc), but anyone that wants to grab it and...

Hacking [Release] ARK-4 CFW port for PSP.

Oh Adrenaline... People probably refer to Standalone installations, since those depend on NoPspEmuDrm, which has the "side effect" of allowing Standalone ARK to use DLC. Standalone installations will already be compatible with DLC via NoPspEmuDrm, but that plugin doens't work with Adrenaline so...

Hacking [Release] ARK-4 CFW port for PSP.

Might need to use nploader if the DLC is encrypted (look for nploader_mod).

Hacking [Release] ARK-4 CFW port for PSP.

ps1cfw_enabler is needed for ARK-X. The other plugin is almost mandatory for the vast mayority of users. There are instructions in the wiki on how to install ARK manually so you can customize exactly what you need. There are instructions to manually install ARK and ARK-X bubbles. FasterARK is...

Just like how Henkaku installs taihen plugin against your will. Crazy how software works right?

    When is a console retro?

First of all the Wii is just a GameCube 1.5, it's not even a full on new console, it's what the DSi was to the DS or the new 3DS was to the 3DS. Also component is not ancient but it's also not classified as HD. Wii games don't render at HD resolutions. It has to at least be able to output a...

    When is a console retro?

HDMI wasn't a thing when the NES released. Aftermarket mods don't count. Ok let me make it a bit more precise, a console is NOT retro if: - It has 3D graphics and can output in HD via HDMI. - It has Wifi and wireless controllers. - It can download content form a store into internal memory (i.e...

    When is a console retro?

Yes. But the technology would have to be much different. A Display Port won't cut it.

    When is a console retro?

For me consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360 can never be retro. Anything that has an HDMI is not retro. Anything that uses nothing but analog video is retro. So the Wii is retro, but the Wii U isn't. On portables I mark the PSP and DS as the last retro ones, with Vita and 3DS not being retro.

Konami debuts 'METAL GEAR SOLID Legacy Series' video series narrated by David Hayter

Not only is it canon, it's actually a lot more important than most people give it credit for. If you go from the end of Snake Eater straight to Peace Walker then the story makes no sense, you need PO to understand how Naked Snake became Big Boss. There's many plot elements in PW that are...

Konami debuts 'METAL GEAR SOLID Legacy Series' video series narrated by David Hayter

No he simply said that it isn't a mainline game and it wasn't directed by him, the story is cannon, it's just not a very important game in his mind, which I totally disagree with, he fucked up the story and timeline beyond repair when he wanted to ignore PO during the development of PW and had...

Konami debuts 'METAL GEAR SOLID Legacy Series' video series narrated by David Hayter

Then it wouldn't be the same game. Delta will be reusing the same mocap and voice actors, as well as map layout. It'll essentially be the same game from 3DS but with overblown graphics. Change too much and it's no longer Hideo Kojima's vision, even Konami knows best not to alter these games too...

Konami debuts 'METAL GEAR SOLID Legacy Series' video series narrated by David Hayter

1 doesn't need another remake. The game works so well because the gameplay mechanics and environments are built together with the limitations of the ps1. Adding modern controls and graphics to it will make it a very easy game and break most of the inmersion and gameplay gimmicks. Just look at...

Hacking Emulation POPS on PSP/Vita - Config Research

Is this config encrypted? Or is it plain text that can be read from any ps1 eboot? A little update on the pops4tool project. We were able to run PopsLoader on both testkits and devkits, but there's compatibility differences with retail. On testkits it seems that only pops 3.72 up to 4.01 works...

Hacking Emulation POPS on PSP/Vita - Config Research

Do we know where in the eboot.pbp the config is injected? I'm guessing it's in the "simple" module ("complex" in psx2psp), the prx embedded in the eboot. I'll be reverse engineering and toying around with the simple.prx module and pops in general to try to get it working on devkits, might as...

Hacking Emulation POPS on PSP/Vita - Config Research

A crash (exception) of course. I don't think the game is trying to store a 32 bit value to the pointer, it's probably storing a 16 bit value but the emulator incorrectly identifies the data type. It all smells like some issue with float vs fixed point.
