    Thank you all. However, it's not a fuse, have another one apart that works fine, to inspect and compare. It's not bridged like a fuse would be typically. but I think it has something to do with short circuit prevention etc from HDMI. just not sure what. Gonna check a few other boards...

    I was able to finally fix one by replacing a series of components near the battery charging chip. I also had another one where it was other parts near Power Chip. I think it's completely random in every case. I got 2 of them going again. I wish i had a solid answer for people.

    unfortunately, i have removed CPU, and the short clears. think this generally means it's dead/bad cpu. perhaps not all destroyed, but certainly needs CPU reball/replacement. equally strange and disappointing.

    Had another one. No luck with fuel gauge, Disconnecting battery + plugging it back in gives battery charge symbol briefly, Nintendo Logo like it wants to boot, then black screen + 15V .5A

    to add, i have let switch battery die completely, and can confirm 15v .5a shows up with battery icon displayed while charging, it soon goes to nintendo boot logo and turns off. so it's potentially not anything to do with charging system or this MAX chip. sorry for all the messages.

    edit: meant to say that i've replaced this in the past (the MAX chip) and it has not resolved it. i had pulled it from a dead same issue switch so unknown if the part was good or not, at least this part source will allow me to try with a new working part. i have however replaced this MAX...

    Ah sorry I forgot to mention it here, the fault itself physically manifests around the battery charging circuit area upon all of my testing. Upon 15V .5A load the battery charger IC (BQ) circuit gets to be around 60C and upwards of 70C. Replacing the Battery BQ chip does not change this...

    this problem has plagued me many times now. it's certainly CPU / RAM issue or EMMC issue like mentioned here, but unsure what else I can test for. detects RCM mode in windows on even unpatched units but just sits at 15V .5A (sometimes 14.9 .48 w/e) would be awesome to figure these out...
