The FCC has voted to restore net neutrality, reversing ruling from 2017

100% this. The president determines majority control of regulatory agencies like the FCC. The two parties are NOT the same. if the Republicans win, we get someone like Aijit Pai again and lose all of the good things like this revival of net neutrality, the broadband price disclosure/nutrition...

Editorial Almost everything I hoped it would be - a week with the 2024 Zenbook Duo

Have you tried adjusting Windows power settings yet? There are different profiles for battery power vs. plugged in, and the one for battery power is likely underclocking the CPU and GPU by a lot to conserve battery life. Also, there are ways to setup hotkeys to launch specific programs on...

Emulation-Station DE frontend is now available on Android devices

Isn't RetroArch also a frontend? So this is a frontend to a frontend? How does that even work. Don't you still end up having to configure RetroArch?

Romhacks and fan translations website CDRomance takes all downloads off-site after a DMCA threat

I wouldn't have even known about the site if this hadn't happened. The Streisand effect in full effect.

Turn-based strategy game 'Inkulinati' gets release date trailer

I played the PC version and didn't like it, but I don't know if it's bad or just not to my taste.

Action RPG 'Last Epoch' to release out of Early Access next month and gets launch trailer

100 Epoch points for $10 and 200 for $20? I don't know what those are used for, but between that and selling multiple day 1 editions of a single player game it feels like a hard pass for folks that want to buy a complete game.

Is it fair to play Dragon Warrior IV with the YYEXVTGE cheat enabled?

When it's a single player game, play it however you enjoy it most.

Nintendo launches augmented reality game for mobile "Pikmin Finder"

Wow, you are the only one so far that was aware that Pikmin Bloom was already released for mobile phones as a collaboration between Nintendo and Niantic. It wasn't a terrible game in concept, but the in-game currency didn't let you buy anything useful, instead requiring real money for inventory...

AYANEO shares specs and pricing details about its upcoming AYANEO Kun handheld gaming PC

I had a steam deck and I quite liked it. Unfortunately the screen broke in an accident. It had nothing to do with how well the steam deck was built. In fact it handled it quite well. When something like that happens I try to replace it with something better so that I don't feel as bad. I took...

AYANEO shares specs and pricing details about its upcoming AYANEO Kun handheld gaming PC

Does the increase in power justify charging double the price of a Steam Deck?

Denuvo's DRM technology for Nintendo Switch is now available in the Nintendo Developer Portal

They should just let people play the 30fps barely 720p Switch versions on Yuzu as a demo of sorts. I played Sonic Frontiers on both PC and Yuzu and even with all the enhancements in Yuzu, it's not even close to the same experience as PC native.

Atari announces the "Atari 2600+", a re-release of its iconic Atari 2600 with new features

Isn't there already an Atari collection for modern consoles with way more games for way less money? I guess if someone had a bunch of original cartridges and wanted to use their original controllers... but $120 is a lot for 10 games that are so basic.

Red Dead Redemption heads to Switch and PS4, but will not be a remaster, and will not release on PC

Expect a PC port in about a year. The PC version is generally the best version, so companies wait to release it to get console sales first for people who would otherwise just buy the PC version and be done. Piracy is also a risk on PC. The AAA game industry has mastered double dipping.

Steam's annual Summer Sale arrives yet again

I think refunds killed the good sales since people would refund games when a better deal came around. I remember when you could get new AAA games for 75%+ off during a flash sale. Now we get maybe 20% off and it's just meh. But 20% is still enough that I wait until the sale to buy the stuff...

    PSP SUCH A BAD HANDHELD

The PSP had some great games, and they largely hold up. I have ppsspp on my phone and the games look amazing with a 2x-4x upscale and some texture filtering. I know this thread is talking about emulating stuff on the PSP, but the other way around works too, especially if battery life on the...

Meta announces its VR games subscription service, Meta Quest+

This is just bad... If it let you choose the games, it would be ok. If it let you keep the games it would be ok. If there was a selection of games you had access to while paying (Netflix style) it would be ok. It has exactly none of those things. Pixel Ripped 1995 deserves better.

What do you think is more harmful to the world? Racists, or religious fanatics?

Have you looked at the raw data for vaccine effectiveness and side effect rates? Have you looked at how your representatives voted, which ones voted for the legislation that makes government bad and against legislation that would make it better? Do you understand the underlying issues well...

What do you think is more harmful to the world? Racists, or religious fanatics?

Definitely religious fanatics. People shouldn't believe anything without questioning it, and once people start believing in things without evidence, they can be manipulated into believing anything.

    Editorial Pimax Portal Impressions

That modular design is a really interesting concept. I'm not sure if I'm on board yet, but I wish them the best.

Croc is the next 90s mascot platformer to get a remaster

The soundtrack was good, but I never could get past the controls. I played Mario 64 first and Croc's controls are so bad in comparison. I originally played it on PSEmuPro at like 5fps, and it actually played better that way... I went back and played it on RetroArch recently and even rewind...
