EZ-Flash's new Nintendo DS flashcard Product Images with Information

So is the general consensus that this is a good starter DS Flashcart? From what I've seen in this thread, it seems to be going for potentially better build quality and no timebomb issues. I'm new to the world of flashcarts so correct me if I'm wrong, but the only thing this seems to be lacking...

GBA and GBC emulator "Pizza Boy" has been removed from the Google Play Store

Could be fair to say it sucks another option is gone, but honestly, GBA/GBC has so many options for emulation nowadays that unless you're looking for something specific, I can't say I'm too hung up about this. That and mirrors existed for years. It's older emulator so you can at least get a back...

PS2 emulator AetherSX2 removed from Google Play Store

Wasn't this project already dead? The archive has been mirrored and I only use that version now anyways. I doubt anyone would want to use the latest version with ads. LOL If NetherSX2 could work something out, I think it would be great, but since the project wasn't open source it'll be awhile...

Nintendo sends DMCA notices for "syspatch-updater" homebrew app by iTotalJustice

Nintendo abusing DMCA? Absolutely shocked (sarcasm). Anyways, I give it a week before a mirror or alternative pops up.

'Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes' gets new trailer

Thank you for the Steam Deck test! Glad to know it will work when I play it. 👍 The DS WISHES it could look like this. Lmao Regardless, this is clearly an AA title. I'm in the camp that it doesn't matter how "pretty" a game looks if it's an absolute slog to play through. Having some compromise...

Yuzu emulator shutting down, paying Nintendo 2.4 million in lawsuit settlement

Honestly, settling was probably the best and worst decision for the Yuzu devs. They could've either gone through a long and drawn court case that could've bled them dry and potential remove the current precedent set for emulation or they could accept the loss of the emulator. They chose the...

Nintendo is suing the Yuzu emulator team

You see, I don't think people would be AS annoyed with these cases if companies actively sought to preserve their games, but they don't. I agree that it's not financially "viable" to support older goods and services forever, but the lack of ANY resources to play the majority of classic titles...

Nintendo is suing the Yuzu emulator team

On one hand, I want Yuzu to win because I don't want another precedent set for companies to go after emulation (despite it being perfectly legal in the US). At the same time, I'm not getting my hopes up because most lawsuits end up in a settlement or one party being drained of all their...

Romhacks and fan translations website CDRomance takes all downloads off-site after a DMCA threat

Thankfully it was just temporary but at least it's good to know of the archive existing. LOL

Amazon has removed Emulation-Station from its app store because it "facilitates piracy"

With all the bootleg Chinese handhelds with poorly-dumped roms on Amazon, they decided to go after an ORGANIZER? Keep in mind that Retroarch is on the Amazon store, but an ORGANIZER for emulators is absolutely a priority. LOL What kills me is that paid Emulators and Frontends have existed for...

Anbernic RG-ARC, a Sega Saturn controller-inspired retro gaming handheld, gets shipping and pricing details

I'm torn. On one hand, this fulfills a specific niche and I could definitely see a purpose for those who really want it. At the same time, I love my Steam Deck and Miyoo Mini+ so much it's hard-pressed for me to switch to something like this. The Steam Deck being bulky is a downside but I can't...

Denuvo's DRM technology for Nintendo Switch is now available in the Nintendo Developer Portal

Switch games about to run at 15 fps! Let's GOOOOOOOOO!!! In all seriousness, considering how first-party games already run, this would be such a terrible idea. LMAO.

Rumor New report claims the Switch's successor will launch next year, with third-party developers in possession of dev kits

^ I got a first gen switch (Christmas of launch). The subpar battery life/screen was kind of a turn off. Once the OLED model (refurbished) came out, I sold my old one for that. By then, the battery was more bearable and the screen quality was a major plus. Wouldn't be surprised considering this...

Sony Project Q handheld video leaked; shows its Android-powered OS

Imagine making a comfortable handheld mold almost 10+ years ago and instead of refining that concept or even improving upon it, you make...this monstrosity. Sony L. With so many options nowadays, why even bother with something so clunky like this? Even if you don't want to use a backbone or...

ROG Ally launch date confirmed alongside specs and UK pricing

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I wish they put a 46Wh or even 50Wh battery in this thing. It's already almost as big as a Steam Deck. Might as well add it in. From numerous reports it appears that the Ally really struggles in battery life...which is a shame for a portable handheld...

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Series coming to Switch and PS4 on April 19

The PC version really was the beta version. LMAO. So glad I just stuck to emulating the PSP/DS ports I wouldn't mind this remaster if it had the PSP content with the QoL additions, but it doesn't....and it's for $70+ USD with tax and shipping? Hard pass.

Asus announces the ROG Ally handheld, claims to have two times the performance of the Steam Deck

Jeesh. I'm lucky I even got my Odin after the holiday season. Sorry your friend had to wait for so long! The Loki will eventually come, but until then, I am curious to see how the ROG Ally turns out.

Asus announces the ROG Ally handheld, claims to have two times the performance of the Steam Deck

I have a GPD Win 4. After owning a Ayaneo Geek, Ayn Odin, Switch, and Steam Deck, I'd say it's one of the more comfortable handhelds I've owned. You really need to feel it to get the idea. It's THICC, but it's not super heavy and the keyboard and mouse nub actually are rather responsive rather...

Microsoft preventing emulators from running on Xbox's Retail Mode

No, I'm with SylverReZ. What would be the point? The Steam Deck is basically a culmination of Valve's other failed projects like the Steam Controller and Machine put together into one successful console. Considering you can already dock the Steam Deck and use it as a Mini PC, would it be worth...

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
