Planning a father-son trip to Prague - any game for Switch set in Prague?

@Ondrashek06 Thank you so much for providing these great tips for traveling to the Czech Republic. Tips from native Czechs are always super helpful. I tend to avoid taxis too when traveling, preferring to get around by train and bus instead whenever possible. Public transportation is usually...

Planning a father-son trip to Prague - any game for Switch set in Prague?

Thank you, @Fien for the warning on inconspicuous street signs and the associated fines from police. I am not worried about speaking only English, but it would also be nice to learn a few commonly-used words and phrases in the Czech language. 😊 With regards to the tour, I think it would be...

Planning a father-son trip to Prague - any game for Switch set in Prague?

Thank you so much for these fantastic recommendations! 🙏 I showed them to my kid, and he's excited to see them, especially the Museum of Fantastic Illusions. I also noticed that the websites aren't in English, which could be why they didn't show up in my usual Google searches. May I know if you...

Question from a non-gamer parent - hoping for advice

Thank you so much for this really detailed resource! My kid is usually very patient in figuring out the games, and only seeks my help when he's exhausted everything. However, I've rarely been able to help him because I'm not a gamer. This will be so handy for those situations! 🙏

Planning a father-son trip to Prague - any game for Switch set in Prague?

I'm starting to plan a trip to Prague next summer with my 10-year-old son. We are also interested in learning more about the city's history and culture. I'm also looking for some game recommendations set in Prague or the Czech Republic. We think it would be fun to play a game about some of the...

Question from a non-gamer parent - hoping for advice

I have downloaded the uBlock Origin extension on my Firefox and have immediately noticed the results. Good thing you suggested that. 👍 I have a pretty good idea on how to get a game for free, thanks to my kid who showed me how. But then that's where I realized the danger of the internet lies. 😱...

Question from a non-gamer parent - hoping for advice

I'm using Firefox for my personal browsing, while Chrome is used for work. I haven't used an ad blocker yet. I remember reading an article once that Google will ban YouTube accounts that are using ad blockers, so I've been hesitant to use one. Do I need to turn off the ad blocker when I'm on...

Question from a non-gamer parent - hoping for advice

Thanks for the button remapping steps for the Switch! I'm starting to really like the Switch and gaming in general. 1697607401 Thank you for the game recommendation, it really looks like a lot of fun. I was actually looking for good games to give him this Christmas season. The internet can...

Question from a non-gamer parent - hoping for advice

I agree! Homebrew on the Switch is a bit too advanced for me, but I'm excited to try remapping or disabling some controller buttons. That could be a great way to level the playing field between me and my son, who's a much better gamer than I am. 😉

Question from a non-gamer parent - hoping for advice

I appreciate your detailed response to my queries. As my kid is only 10, I will do my best to support him until he turns 13. This might be an opportunity for us to bond through gaming together. Although Homebrew sounds intimidating and has the potential to damage the Switch, we can explore it...

Question from a non-gamer parent - hoping for advice

Hi all, I'm looking for some friendly guidance as a parent who knows practically nothing about gaming. My 10-year-old has been playing games on our Switch and begging me to let him join this forum. The game he's been playing most is Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. He keeps saying how helpful...

    Favourite Book?

The first book that immediately comes to my mind is 'American Gods' by Neil Gaiman. Of course, there are plenty of other great books, but for some reason, I can't quite recall the titles at the moment.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
