On literally every thread I go to, there is an autoplaying video ad at the bottom of the page. While it doesn't have any sound, it does interrupt anything I was currently listening to due to the browser playing a "silent" audio clip. The ads are also starting to eat up a good chunk of my data.

You can pretty much use magisk, or try the all in one root methods, if you dont want root, then you can easily download samsung browser, and activate the ad blocker plugin, puffin also has plenty of kewl stuff.

Or you can use AdGuard...or maybe support the site?

@ScarletDreamz

The OP is aware of methods to circumnavigate the ads. He is reporting them because he believes the ads are detrimental to the browsing experience and reflect bady on GBA temp. I agree. But the staff have clearly unfortunately decided that this is the way they want to push the direction of the site and are unlikely to be doing anything about it.

Seriously its like 2 dollars a month but i cant talk as i don't donate lol.
Stop trying to bully people into doing things your way. He doesn't want to switch browsers and can't afford the Patreon. Let a staffer take care of his report and leave him alone. You aren't helping anybody.

Did you also report the issue to the ad provider?
Also, what browser are you using if you don't mind me asking? Are you sure there isn't a setting in your browser that could disable autoplay?

It's not the OP's responsibility to report it to the add provider. Besides which the add is probably not even violating any terms of service.

Ads like these are designed to circumnavigate the auto play setting in the browser.

this is the first I'm hearing of this...
our new supplier said there might be video ads but I didn't know they would autoplay or cause audio interruptions.
I'm going to get in touch with them and see if anything can be done.

Could you also clear up the Patreon issue, while you're here?

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
