I think this is my 5th post so I will see if I can post after. Yup, and I don't want to say it didn't work, I followed it but didn't put a ton of effort into it because my intention was never to go back to a disc. I just wanted a software image that, when mounted, allowed the install, allowing me to never have to worry about the original physical CD, just only as another backup. Really appreciate the whole write up! Funny enough, the software Ford uses is archaic (which is probably why it uses SecuROM still). If you don't want an online subscription but want the dealer-level service manual for your car (in this case, Ford), then you have to buy this disc. That's what you pay for. It's great for DIYers when repairing/diagnosing a vehicle as you have dealer-level information about the car, every bolt to remove, all wiring diagrams, step by step with 3D rendered pictures. I think new model vehicles (2020+) use a USB drive, so who knows the protections around that... I'm just glad I can at least get a backup! Agree, specialized, there are some forum posts about it, but not much. Some old ones of people saying to just image the CD and it works when using the software, which they are right, but they aren't understanding the installer is the secure part. I just hope those people aren't getting rid of the discs when they do that, because if they are, and they need to format their PC, they will be in for a rude awakening when they see the installer isn't working if they didn't pull the DPM. Hence the suggestion to use a VM. [automerge]1688503938[/automerge] Here is the DPM of the discs. Red = 2017 MY disc (the one with the problems discussed originally, used old Alcohol 120% version to read DPM) Green = 2015 MY disc Yellow = 2013 MY disc (seems noisy? But it works fine) In case you are curious, this is what the software looks like (old), but does contain very useful information. Let me know if there is anything else you want to look at!
I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
