The two first entries in the series were among the first and most beloved PS1 JRPGs and helped popularize the genre in North America. If you haven't played Suikoden 2 and you are a fan of JRPGs then you need to get the game now. A disc is hard and expensive to find these days but it's also available on PSN. I consider every game in the series memorable and well worth playing, even the DS game Suikoden Tierkreis which often gets hate from older fans of the series. Some see these new non-numbered games as spin-offs and not true sequels but I think the core concepts of the series are still strong and this seems like a quality game from what I have seen. Anyway, the plot in every Suikoden game is largely similar. It involves a main protagonist who for one reason or another finds himself caught up in what is escalating into a large scale conflict against an evil force. In order to prevail, he must gather an army to help him. What makes Suikoden unique is that you travel all over the world looking for recruits while progressing with the story. As you recruit more and more characters, your castle grows bigger and gets access to new facilities. Recruit an in keeper and your castle gets an inn, recruit an inventor and your house can get an elevator etc. More and more characters become recruitable the further you get into the story. Many of the characters you recruits are also playable and you can put them in your party. In total, each game contains 108 recruitable characters, called "The Stars of Destiny". The story from this game in particular (from Wikipedia):"Like <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suikoden_Tierkreis" target="_blank">Suikoden Tierkreis</a>, Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki is a side-game which takes place in its own universe within the Suikoden "Million World" <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiverse" target="_blank">multiverse</a> outside the continuity of other games in the series. The plot concerns the main protagonist, a swordsman from a small village, and his two friends, Myura and Zeno, who are thrown back in time 100 years by a mysterious boy named Xephon. It's also part of a series with a very long history so I think the brand is stronger than its sales. It truthfully breaks my heart to have an unlocalized game in this series. I think the Suikoden franchise is something every RPG fan should give a try and a translation could help it get more attention. Anything benefiting the series and bringing attention to it is something I'm for. Obviously I also want to play it in English myself. What I can do to help:I'm not a native English speaker but I'm definitely capable of proof reading and I am willing to put effort into play testing too. Sadly, I make this post in the request topic because I'm a beginner at Japanese and I'm not a capable programmer. I do have a copy of the game if for any reason you'd need scans of manual, art or something else. If nothing else, see this post as a recommendation to check the series out. Especially Suikoden 2 is from a time when JRPGs were made with a lot of attention to detail and a lot of heart.</blockquote>
