Klonoa PS1 stuck on Loading screen on Switch Retroarch

The game starts up normally. i'm able to watch the intro, make a save file, and watch the prologue cutscene but then after the cutscene where Klonoa wakes up from a bad dream, the game is stuck on the loading screen. does anyone know why or what options i can change in the retroarch settings to make it work? i feel like this happens because of how the game looks.

a bit off topic but the load and save menu in Ape Escape also doesn't work. just stuck on a black screen which i assume is the loading screen for that. could be because of the same issue. not that it matters much since i can just use save states.

No one helped but I figured out. Just had to download the PS1 Bios and Klonoa worked fine. haven't tried ape escape yet but i'll check it out later.

Ape Escape loading screen works now too. Yup fixed the problem.
