Any way to play PS2 discs on a non-backwords compatible fat PS3 using CFW? Grabbed a 160 GB fat model to mod after the shop inevitably goes down (because of the CMOS battery issue).

I believe you can through "MultiMAN", the games need to be in (.ISO) format. The only downside, however, is that you can't load PS2 discs straight from the XMB.

Yeah, I was hoping for some way around that. I have a modded PS2 and mainly because I can downgrade it. My PS3 Slim is one of the ones that shipped with too high of a firmware for CFW. I don't plan to pirate anything, I just don't want to lose access to anything I purchased when Sony inevitably shuts down the PS3 PSN servers and the CMOS battery fails.

If you want to legally play your PS2 games, you can either back them up using "MultiMAN", or like you said download them from the PSN store.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
