Hello everyone, I was thinking about getting a new xbox 360 to replace my old one, but I am wondering what version to get. I was thinking about either a late model fat or a early model slim, which one should I choose? I have a bunch of my games backed up, so i would want to flash the new one.

When it comes to flashing the dvd drive, fats are easier to do this with, but are more prone to RROD, and they also dont have wifi built in, which a slim does, and doesnt RROD, but slims are rare to find that can be flashed I believe. I don't know what i should do, should i get one already flashed so i don't have to worry about it? I don't really want to do a RGH or anything like that, since you can't go online with it.

I'm eager to read your advice so fire away! Thanks again for reading

Get a Jasper/Kronos Phatbox (made in late 2009/2010)

I've yet to see one go RRoD from normal use.
And since you open up your 360 anyway to flash it, you can also give it a clean.
Jaspers/Kronosses will last a very long time ;]

Or you could go with a slim and give it DemoN which is Dual Nand and allows for hacking, playing burned games, and moddding it also allows for live but they can get kinda pricey depending on budget.

Dual NAND takes more knowledge on staying safe then you'd think.

Accidentally boot into FSD with your GT and it leaves traces in your GT which cannot be removed.
Ofcourse it's a neato feature to have but you really must know what you're doing.

Basically, you have a Live state and a hacked state.

It can use the same HDD (dangerous) or use an external for your pirated backups.
Many people install FSD (including me) as it's a nice customizable dash.
Along with some emulators and homebrew.

However, if you accidentally boot XeXMenu/FSD/any emulator or whatever, that piece of homebrew leaves data in your gamertag which MS CAN detect!
If you where to go on Live with an achievement from Snes360 which says Welcome to the homebrew then MS will be sure you hacked your 360.
So you can bet your arse on it that they will ban your console AND gamertag!

To be on the safe side:
NEVER boot homebrew on your Live enabled gamertag NOR leave any arbitrary code/illegitimate software on the HDD you also use on XBL.

In short:
If you're looking to play backups, I suggest getting an Xkey/DVD flash.
It's not only much safer, it also allows for multiplayer games on XBL (which 99% of the people want)
A RGH/Dual NAND is only good for people who want to best of both worlds and know what they are doing.

One simple slipup and you left irremovable traces on your GT which can be detected by MS.

Sorry about that I know what a Dual Nand is I've just never had one before never thought it was necessary and it was about the same price as 2 Phat 360's one with RGH one with Retail.
