Hardware what could be the use of that button?

People are still asking this dumb question? It is a Sync button...*insert EPIC DUH here* how else would you sync the controllers to the unit? Even the Pro version of the switch controller has the button.
why would it be on the front of the controller? And what happens if you need to sync the other controller?

you mean the one that looks like a headphone jack? if so i think it is a headphone jack with a little cover by nintendo to keep out dust that pushes out of the way when you insert the headphones

i suspect its a Share button. There was a rumor that the system had one a few months before we finally saw what it was. It could also be the return of the TV button. Don't know about you guys, but I've gotten a ton of use out of using my Wii U gamepad as a universal remote. I recently lost my remote somewhere in my room, and can't find it, fortunately the Gamepad has been picking up the slack and working like a champ.
