What's up with Nintendo being a lot more anti-consumer than usual right now?

Is this something like an end of the fiscal year? In the past month, Nintendo has taken down a ton of stuff, issued a lawsuit, and released an anti-homebrew update to HorizonOS.

I know that Nintendo does anti-consumer things like this all the time, but it seems a LOT more concentrated right now.

There either doing it just because, or that they magically have something cooking for their next new console in order to deter pirates/the homebrew community for making software compatible for it.

Although none of their actions will be stopped, of course. People will do it regardless because they don't like what Nintendo is doing to hurt us. And I honestly have mixed feelings about it.

they're not confident in the switch 2, so they're doing this to raise investor confidence and thus their stock price in case it's a flop.

I remember saying this in a Youtube comment section back then, and someone criticized me for using Iwata's death as na excuse for NIntendo to go downhill.
To be fair, it is pretty disrespectful of the dead to speculate like that, but we've had enough time for the reality of the current post-Iwata Nintendo to say it's a fact

Using Reggie's leaving is also a perfect excuse. It's too much of a fact now like you said lmfao
Nintendo lost so many of its best people that it's safe to say they've been replaced by corpos who turned the company into a more Western AAA soulless corporation.

It's almost April. Meaning the financial year for Nintendo will come to a close soon and they're going to want to look good for their investors by ensuring they're protecting their IP and profits for the next one. Also with the next console around the corner they likely want to plug some holes, if the next one is another arm based quasi-Tablet with controllers chances are at least some things could be used on the next one as well.
This goes particularly for emulation, they can't reinvent the entire OS, graphics API and whatnot if they actually plan to have backwards compatibility of some kind.

All in all, this is just business as usual. Tying up some loose threads and trying to look good for investors by appearing busy and with a plan.
