Well, I will name a few of gaming's music greatest, but just a few:

Doom - PSX 1 version (1995). Actually, I'm listening to it right now. It is captivating, fantastic, and truly haunting. If you've never heard this, you owe it to yourself to come up with this AMAZING SCORE. THERE'S NOTHING LIKE IT UNDER THE SUN. NOTHING.

Final Fantasy VII. (1997) You'l break, just wait for it...

Ahhh yes...'Nuff said.

The original PANZER DRAGOON for the Sega Saturn (1995). That is one that I listen to as much as Doom. Fantastic score, and brings back some insane memories.

Metroid Series - Super Metroid through Metroid Corruption (1994 - 2007) Phenominal music that just won't DIE. Metroid is one helluva legacy and it's got the music to back it up.

Alien Trilogy (1996). This music is TIGHT. If you've never played or listend to the music, do yourself a favor and take a dive into the abyss.

WipeOut Racing Series (1995 - 2017): Too many artists, DJ's, and bad ass motherfuckers to to mention in the the music industry.
Cold Storage, The Chemical Brothers, Hybrid, The Crystal Method, Kraftwerk, Leftfield, Brainiac, the list goes on and on and on.

Finally, the most important of all, is the music that accompanies the arcade experience that draws us all in. The humps, the thuding, the music that says "STAY CLEAR!!!!" Games like Centipede, Galaga, Tail Gunner, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong (even the bootleg arcade machines), Sinistar, Wizard Of Wor, Space Panic, Bagman, Star Caslte, Zoo Keeper, Burger Time, Starwars Arcade, and that's but just a few of these monsters that got us addicted (just like us and the rest of the world)...

Anyway, I'll show you mine if you show me yours!!!

Take care folks, and by all means, CHIME IN ON YOUR VIDEO GAME MUSIC FAVORITES!!!

I listen to various background music from Crash Bandicoot Warped for PS1. My favorites are from Dingodile, N. Gin and N. Cortex battles. I also like to listen to the various music from Spyro the Dragon for PS1.

No. I don't get any enjoyment out of it outside of when I'm playing the actual game.

Understood, and I never even BEGAN listening to gaming music since 2003 or 2004.
Post automatically merged:

Torneko: The Last Hope
Battalion Wars 2
Homeland (GCN)
Satellaview BGM
All great soundtracks that are barely known.

I'll have to look those up!!!

Besides Cold Storage all of them are established music acts outside of videogames, not really counts as "video game music" IMHO
the same goes for games like tony hawks pro skater
or forza horizon where the dnb channel consists of tracks from hospital records, not really counts as "video game music" either
it's just music played in a video game

my favorites for music made specifically for a video game:
chrono trigger & cgrono cross and brink of time ( crono trigger jazz interpretations )
turrican from chris hülsbeck
the flame in the flood
policenauts

I'm more into modern videogame soundtracks:
-Horizon: Zero Dawn
-Some of the Square Enix 2D HD stuff like Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler
-The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
-The Witcher 3
-Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth (this game is so good and no one talks about it. But the sountrack is also very good)
-Disco Elysium
-Shovel Knight
-Nitronic Rush (the soundtrack is better than the one of Distance in my opinion)
-The Elder Scrolls III (I prefer it over oblivion and skyrim)
-Frostpunk (both base game and expansion)
-LEGO Island Xtreme Stunts: the soundtrack brings back so many memories
-Far Cry 3 and 6
-Ori and the blind forest
-Warhammer 40k mechanicus
-Many soundtracks from the Assassin's Creed series (especially 3, Origins and Rogue)
-I think that I will also buy the soundtrack of RDR2 in the future so that will be on this list in the future

These are the ones that I mainly enjoy at the moment.

My favorites are:
Racing Lagoon
Final Fantasy X-II (made by the same duo who did the Racing Lagoon soundtrack)
Radirgy (all of them!)
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3
Marvel VS Capcom 2
SNK VS Capcom 2
Street Fighter III: Third Strike
Rival Schools + Project Justice (Rival Schools is better, but Project Justice has some jams)
Select tunes from all Tekken games (Tekken 4 and 7 in particular - NOT 8)

edit - oh and of course Jet Set Radiooooooooo

As a music lover, I also like to listen to game music. I really think that the C64/Amiga games that I played back in the day, give me the taste for electronic music. From some tunes I get emotional, especially when I listen too Turrican II, SMB 3, Star Fox and The Adams Family. Its bring me back to bad times in my live, I used to play games when cut me off for the rest around me.

My all time favorites are:
Rob Hubbard - Monty on the Run theme (C64) - what people can do with just 3 tunes!
The Great Giana Sisters (C64) - Intro and the first level.
The Adams Family (Amiga 500) - First and second level.
Turrican II (Amiga 500) - Intro, World 1-1, World 1-2.
Super Mario Bross. 3 (NES)
Star Fox/ Star Wing (SNES) - Intro and the first level and when finish a level.
Dune 2 (PC) - intro and level music.
Rival Schools (PSX) - intro
Chrono Cross (PSX) All off them.
Daytona USA (Saturn) - That cheesy intro ;)
Final Fantasy 7 (PSX)
Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii)

I do but not many really catch my attention.

One of my favourites is Jaina's theme from World of Warcraft. The melancholic tune is really something.

I know, I still use a C64 for gaming, demos and play SID music. it still amazes me that poeple still making software for the C64.
Last time I hear Cheese by Wiklund a master piece of art if you ask me, knowing the limitations off the sid chip.

I used to drink alcohol fairly often. Never to the point of it being a problem, but like 2-3 beers with dinner each night, or a few cocktails or glasses of Scotch or something. Started smoking/vaping weed a lot a few years back which killed 90% of my interest in booze. Now I stopped smoking/vaping weed as much and just deal with life the boring way most of the time

I only drank alcohol once and it was by accident

I didnt know it was beer, it was on a juice bottle

Yeah, I'm addicted to smoking, sadly. It's very addictive but I wish I didn't start.

@SylverReZ, you played that Mario flash game called Mario 63?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, No, but I've seen it on Vinesauce's stream.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, that game is one of the reasons i met newgrounds bc the full versión of it is in that site
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Also somebody is remaking it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, the other game where I found newgrounds is new york shark

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Another being Pico VS Bear, the original 1999 version before Jim Henson filed a DMCA takedown.
    +1
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
The 2006 versión was made when the flash portal was made
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Many people thought it was lost, but was discovered that he hid it on the same page.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's been there for a long time, too. People who search for lost media don't look hard enough lmao.
