10 Minutes with Fire Emblem Awakening.

Okay, about four hours ago.... I started playing Fire Emblem awakening for the first time. I turnend it on and saw the opening video, It looked just like Fire Emblem Fates. After it was done, i started the game.... I named my character rolf.
So then it asked me about the difficulty. "Normal, Hard, Expert" I picked normal since it was my first time playing this game. Now I am not a total stranger to Fire Emblem. I play lots of Marth, and Ike, and sometimes roy in super smash bros. and the original Nes game from 1988.....I think the DS game Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon was a remake maybe? So I know how to pla it. So then it ask if i would like classic or casual. Apprently one thing i didn't like was when players die they are gone, but casual allow them to stay even if they lose. So i pick that one, then I was like "Okay let's get started."

First I see Chrom fighting some magician and then the game starts by defeating him. I did, it was easy. TUTORIALS FOR THE WIN!

Next comes prolouge story where Chrom finds "Rolf" (aka Robin) and they take him home along with Chrom sister the princess Lissa, and some guard Fredreick. Anyway as i start playing i start winning and learning how to pay (Of course i know how since i played others before) But one thing i noticed was Chrom is the lord. If I am wrong, the lord is the main player that if the lord dies you istantly lose the game, regardless of who is left standing. The lord is also able to talk to other units and other special commands... usually shopping. But Since i was asked to create a character i figured they be the lord. Corrin in Fates is the main character and lord if i am not mistaken so why isn't Robin.... Rolf the lord too? Does it mean he not main character? Instead he is the tactitian, the story goes he lost his memory about who he is and remember Chrom somehow and slowly starts remembering Battle strategies (GAME MACHNICS AND GIMMICKS) Which i guess is kinda a tutorial process so it makes sense.

Anyway after a few chaptors, i get to Ferox... some snow place. Looks nothing like Ferox stage in super smash bros. I noticed some enemies were stronger than my characters and were dying after 2 hits. I was close to winning and i was trying to get a menu to open but instead i hit a combinations of buttons and the screne went black. "What happened!?" The game reset. You remember how some games Like the ones on GBA and Gamecube and some rpg games on other consoles had this "Soft reset" function? Thats what happened. I accidentally reset the game. "Oh wow, OKAY!" It happens, how was i supposed to know the combination has changed? Usually is L+R+Start + Select or something. I figured that wasn't in this game, you can save and quit the game from the menu so why would there be a shortcut in the game?

I had to start the battle over. I had 3 units remaning of 10, 7 lost and one enemy left. "No way. okay plan B!"

I went to my computer and got a save editor from here on GBATemp, It didn't have much to offer, all i could do was change some stats. I saw a option for inventory (I had planned to get all best weapons or any unlimited use weapons) But it didn't work. Maybe i broke it, who knows. I changed the stats and started again, and i won easily. I didn't set everything to 99 or 255, just each one up by offset of 10. I'm not a total cheater like that, just need the old fashion game genie Steorids for my rpg games like i used to on SNES.... and Genesis Phantasy star games..... and shining force games.

After i won the battle, i closed the system into sleep mode. "Now i remember why i never finished a fire emblem game. Is hard. Not like final fantasy tactics, more like shining force hard! It could been worst like Phantasy star II"

I already explained how i didn't like permenant deaths in the games, but i also don't like the limited item systems. Each item (with some exceptions..... Looking at you Chrom with that Falchion) Has limited uses, every time you attack one is used and when is all gone is lost and you need more. That explains why Robin's acttack in super smash bros. are alwas going away at times. I thought it was dumb to put in the game like brawl's random slipping on run.

As far as story go, don't ask, i didn't payy much attention, only when someone is talking or video is playing, other times i just press start and skip or mash a button through it. So i only know so much. I have a attention problem okay? I been diagnosed with aspergers syndrome and ADHD, i play retro games in full screen that didn't normally intend 16:9 aspect. Is probably worst, don't judge me, some people like it that way some others don't I like my stuff to fit the screen so I am not distracted by black borders. I can still see the game who cares if the picture look stretched or isn't aspect ratio accutate.

I should be able to finish the game after using the save editor a few times but i think a NTR CFW Cheat would help more. I miss Game genie and game shark stuff. Yeah guess i am a cheater or something huh? I did intend to play fair if i finish the game least once. Since i noticed fire emblem fates has is a easier game setting, not only can you keep units who lose but they come back at the start of your turn if they did. Very casual. But man is did it stop being interesting so fast. After the decision to choose a side it just feel uninspired to play, one thing that would help if the game had been made full voiced audio, like i said i may have a attention problem and voice games help, they make me want to listen and know more what is going on,, they make me feel like is important to focus, especailly if stuff is going on. Instead most of the game has people standing around with 3d models talking with just as much action as if you were looking at a picture, sometimes even pictures is all you see with camera panning around it with portaits of the character as you read. It just lost me. Even if the characters were little interesting i may bother to read but not many stand out and i only play somewhere until before chapteter 10.

Sorry this is long or even pointless i just wanted to write this, if anyone reads is here, so call it sharing i guess. Whatever you think of me bad or good, is okay i'm not upset to be honest. I also don't think is a bad rpg game, i play lots of them even tactical ones, like i said Final fantasy tactics, Shining force, they were not easy games either but then again they were little more simple and had little more inspiration, "SHINING FORCE RESURECTION OF THE DARK DRAGON" "FINAL FANTASY TACTICS WAR OF THE LIONS" Fire emblem..... fates...... Fire emblem..... Awakening..... Even fire emblem shadow dragon sounds little better, mystery of the emblem, Radient Dawn. I know Final fantasy is probably a clone of a less known popular game in America called Tactics Ogre. Kinda like Hyrule warriors and Dynasty warriors and Dragon Quest Warriors.... But never mind.

I don't think is wrong that i may feel need to cheat to beat the game but is a option i do use sometimes in games. Sometimes for fun finding secrets in hidden program data, debug modes, Exploits and the glitches heaven of glitches of the unkonwn. Sometimes i do it to win, I did pay for the game to see the ending and i don't wanna feel like i wasted it if i don't finish it. To be honest i dunno other people opinon on This specific game, but i do know lots of people like the fire emblem series, just dunno why. I guess the problem is my attention problem. I sometimes don't have problem with patience but if i know i have the tools to speed up the process of things i just use them. Lots of people like Tactical rpg games in general, I don't mind it but i just maybe needs to be done right specially for someone like me which is just a luck of what kind of games people make.

I dunno what else to say, i did try looking for NTR CFW Cheats but i only found a wiki like page of ntr cfw that had plugins for it that were supposed to be cheats, i click the download link and went to some mega storage web page and the file never downloads. I dunno maybe is broken. I am probably better off finishing Fire emblem fates since it is easier but not too motivated as i am with this right now so I dunno we'll see....

If your read the title, i guess you noticed the title "10 minutes" you would think with all i said here It took longer than ten minutes to do all i did with the game, and yes i did but it felt like 10 minutes to me cause of how slow paced and boring it seemed. I'm only on chapter 5. More accuratly i think is been about 3 hour since starting cause i have procrastinated to it and i am not afraid to admit. ADHD or not i need to try so i maybe will.

If you read this and was disappointed, sorry, i just wanted to write this.

You'll probably think I'm insane...but in Fire Emblem Fates I have 200h (with the same settings you have) at chapter 19 (of 25)...I'm trying to get everybody to learn all their techniques and all their supports to level A...before picking their children and proceding with the story...but I am on hiatus...I'm trying to do the same in Fates (at chapter 16)...

And I agree with hating the permanent death in video games...If we can turn it off it's all the better...

Dude you're just extremely fucking shit at the game Awakening is seriously the easiest one in the entire franchise if only because pair up is overpowered in that game, and you can grind, Infinitely!

@LittleFlame Thank you for that comment.

I am already playing the easiest setting if you read the top of the post it says what settings i am using... But is fine. I'm not upset. I can play it, i will play fair when i beat it once. But someone might have known that if they read all of what i said. :creep:

How to get overpowered in Fire Emblem Awakening: Get all the DLC (legally or otherwise)
Do the one for gold until you are super rich
Use the spot pass options to downloads team from past games
Grind against them, use the exp dlc, wait for random fights on the map, use a reeking bow to summon a random group of ennemies
Buy rare powerful weapons/spells from spot pass teams (with the money you got from the gold DLC)
Enjoy ^^

As someone who's beaten Lunatic without ever using DLC, meh? it's not fun at all but you don't need DLC
(not even gonna get started on Lunatic+)

Too bad there are no spot pass teams in Birthright...to buy rare weapons for them...I miss being able to summon some characters on the map and buying brave weapons, and/or Levin Swords from them...

Yeah go deprive yourself of all the fun you could be having with this great game by cheating!
People that can't stand to think should prolly stick to straightforward shooters or something

You know if you don't like what i am saying here you don't have to read it or comment, you also didn't have to tell me i am bad or talk about what you can do. But is your decision to do what you want to as i can't stop you. But it makes me think you just came here to insult me and talk good about yourself. Not that is necessary or anything but what exactly was your reason for commenting?

My character is already over-powered now...so that's not needed...

I'd just like to get more experience in Birthright...Grinding take ages even with the DLC...:glare:

there is a patch that makes all items 'unlimted use', no numbers appear :)
it's on here somewhere!

Because i don't like people that can't stand to think for more than 5 minutes
also for the sake of everything ever, don't use characters from a game you haven't played yet in a fanfiction
it's cringey as all hell

but it's best to use before you start the game, but it is possible to use after you started your save too, but you will need to do a little clean up first, like deleting some items in your game. i forget, just find it and read, it's not a big problem :)

That is your opinon, that is fine, someone else don't think the same and that is fine, call it what you want, i don't consider it fan fiction, i was bored and wanted something to do and that is what i did. Again, you don't need to look if you aren't interested.

Don't worry, i will play normally after i play it through once. I just need to understand a idea of how to play this game better.

Not to be rude but @LittleFlame has a point FE:A (on easy and normal) is actually really broken with the pair up system and the fact that there is no perma-death on casual (which you are playing on). I had no trouble at all beating it and I wouldn't even consider myself better than 'okay' at the games. Pay attention to the basic stats (str/mag, def, and res), and pair everyone up, even somewhat logically, and you should be fine.

I want a handheld gaming system with a tablet sized screen, like a 8 or10" screen, with controllers that can detach like the Switch.

@BigOnYa i was legitimately trying to scratch my leg, this is reminding me of that cylinder post

I don't see the buzz about a square screen personally. I think there will be a review on the site within a few weeks though if you are interested.

I've put down the money on the Odin 2 Mini since I just love that Vita form factor. Loved the power of the Odin 2 but the size always put me off, this one seems exactly what I've been wanting.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I don't care about the square screen it's just nice to hold something you don't have to stretch your arms a foots length
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
All these things expecting to be super huge is overrated just run a type c cable to your TV if you want a big display or in my case screen mirror it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
On the go tho I meant, I use my 10" tablet and a Bluetooth controller for retro gaming while sitting on my porch or on long car rides sometimes. Easier on my eyes than the Switch screen.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
My point is we already have enough shit with big displays having something pocketable with up to ps2 would be fine on the go

Ken unless the games are made for that screen size most suck on a screen that size... Having a square screen and being brighter and higher res helps but it's not a cure all, text is tiny bullets are tiny, your.... Well lol
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
You can stretch to fit probably it's not all bad that they make it seem to be
