When you see the title you must be thinking ''what the heck?!'' I can understand, how do I remember the day that I started listening to kpop? Isn't that a bit weird? It is, but I can remember it thanks to a certain song on youtube. It was released on the day I started listening.
It is still one of the best songs I have ever heard before, even when you don't like Korean pop music you should at least give this song a try:
And these girls can sing really well too! I've seen them a lot of times doing live performances on Youtube and they have some real talent!
This song introduced me to Korean pop music but it did not really grab my interest yet, I saw some guy doing a reaction and I thought he was really cute!(This made me listen to the song more often.) But like most people I reacted like what the fuck is this language, what the heck is wrong with them? WHY AM I LISTENING TO THIS?! Then a friend of mine send me this:
This song changed my life, Girls' Generation(Also known as SNSD) marked the real begin. I fell in love with the song.(I can still feel the excitement I had back then when I listen to it!) I thank this friend so much for sending this song since this was the thing that made me give k-pop a chance to prove itself. After I got my hands on this song I downloaded the whole SNSD discography and since then I started to dislike the western music styles. Only on problem, I only gave the girl groups a chance, I somehow couldn't listen to guy groups. Not yet... In the spoilers bellow you can find some songs I've listenend to a lot back then:

Of course there are way more songs I listened to back then, especially SNSD songs since I like them a lot. This marks the begin of my kpop addiction, this was around the end of 2011/the begin of 2012.
Around March 2012 I got confronted with something on this forum, in the j-pop section to be specific, I came across this(of course the Japanese version back then):
This song changed something inside of me. I had a natural aversion against Boy groups, but somehow I didn't notice anything of that feeling listening to this! And this made me give two groups a chance, Big Bang and Super Junior. Bigbang had the song I just gave and Super Junior had:
Of course I got confronted with guy groups before, I listened to one before.( ) The thing was, I listened to this but it was only because T-ara was in it.
Around April 2012 I got across this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04FdisNU3vw I will not go into it though since it's does not mark anything right now.(The name of the group should say A LOT though!)
Now we get to a certain period, this period changed my life for good. I never felt hype for a release of a kpop song, this song changed it all. I had the same hype as the rest of the world felt for the recent games release of GTA V, it's all about this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btDd9rOlc2k
I watched the teaser for around 250 times before it was released, together with the kpop scene, we counted down every last second until it was released. The next few days I couldn't stop listening to it at all!
Around this point all the special things end, kpop songs get released, I listen to it and nothing really happens.(Around this time I also got my job!)
Per accident I discovered this when I got back from my work, I heard the instrumental version and I was like is this from a games OST? 'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_H7ZG7yk5Wo' this is the song. This song marked something for me. Something called Girl's Day, my most favourite girl's group of all Korean pop groups. I already posted Oh my god! Somewhere above but it never really meant something for me. This song was different it described my feelings for someone back then like some other songs did.
Now we are around the end of 2012, pretty close to now! I discovered a lot of new groups back then which all were really awesome.(To name a few: SHINee, Infinite, BtoB, Able, NU'est and if I recall correctly BAP as well.)
I will now leap back a forth in time for a bit, because Girl's Day released a new album in March this year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUtGJtyoIfg (RELEASED TWO DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY) this song made me fanboy/fangirl so much, I started to love Girl's Day again from this point after Don't Forget Me got boring. To make it even worse not too long they released this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xF3MC8PWgJE I hated this song the first time I listened to it. After that I bought the album...
Now we make a small leap in time again, I will jump to the begin of January this year. This song got released back then: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssjhp9_EWv0 Why do I tell you about this song? Because it is my favourite song of all time. This song didn't change too much though, it just was it. It is what kpop is for me! It's about cute Koreans and awesome music!
