Why I hate playing online (A Mario Kart 7 rant)

So today, I decided to dive into Mario Kart 7 Online for a bit, and joined a community, which I always do when playing online. It was me and one other person on Bowser's Castle. It was neck and neck at first, but eventually I gained a big lead over the other player. Suddenly, my screens go black and I'm hit with an "A communication error has occured" message. My first thought? "Don't tell me he ragequit..."

And there's my problem with online games: A lot of the time, I'm being beaten by superior racers, but the one time I'm actually winning, someone decides to ragequit, thus making the whole thing pointless. Of course, this infuriates me because I rarely ragequit myself (I want to say I never ragequit, but that's just not true.) It seems to be impossible to play legitimately in most online games, as everyone around you is using glitches or hacks, and those you're beating legitimately decide to bail out before the results become final, thus robbing you of a win.

I'll try playing MK7 online later on, but I'd like to play it against someone who won't ragequit if I'm beating them.

We have a thread in the 3DS wi fi section for MK7 and an IRC.

Pop in every now and then and see if wants a match.
We also have regular MK7 days.
Last one was yesterday.

Don't play in communities, 'nuff said.
There are some with quality players, of course. But a lot of them are filled with nine year olds, can't avoid it, it's a Mario game.

MK7 day is awesome, though. Everyone has fun, and accepts their fate when they get blue-shelled.

People always ragequit whenever I play online. It's the reason I stopped doing random battles on Pokemon Black. So many people turned off their games when they started losing, it stopped being fun.

Simply play with 7 other people, then. Don't join a community unless you've got friends in there.
What really bothers me though, is latency and people with crappy internet.
Honestly I've been wanting to say this for some time now If you've got a horrible internet connection, do NOT play MK7 online OR simply play in a community.
When people have a rubbish internet connection, I often see people falling off the stage then miraculously coming back on in an instant, people constantly swerving left and right yet miraculously maintaining an insane speed, or sometimes they take an item box and it doesn't disappear from the stage so everyone gets items from the same box, my position randomly changing between 1st and 2nd over and over again, etc.
The gameplay just gets worse for everyone else.

I only ever use communities when I'm trying to play with a certain group of friends. If you play using the worldwide option, you're bound to get 8 people in total, they obviously won't all ragequit.

I LOVE when people rage quit.
It makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside knowing I made someone so mad they had to forcefully exit the game for fear of likely breaking something should they continue.
Hell there are some TF2 servers that actually give you points for making people ragequit. Quality stuff.

I can't believe people take a game like Mario Kart 7 so seriously. It's Mario Kart 7.

Playing online is fantastic as long as you can keep your cool. I suck at plenty of games but I still enjoy myself. Like TF2.

The last MK7 day that went on, I was at my grandma's house, so I couldn't participate then :(
