After much pressure from a lot of people, I began watching it. And yeah, it's pretty fucking good.
Most notable is that the production values are amazing. Usually most shows are held back by their budgets. Falling Skies may dump a lot into their production but the CGI is still phoned in compared to, say, Prometheus. Here, there's nothing that screams "This looks like TV." Costumes are excellent, settings are great, and they really go all out with their sets, extras, everything. Each episode feels like a full scale movie production.
Also Peter Dinklage is really fucking good. He just stands out from everyone else. By far my favorite character in the show.
I'd have to say that my biggest issue is what I call the "premature loregasm". Basically the show "loregasms" too quickly and spews its lore everywhere instead of properly distributing it. So they start throwing out names and facts that it takes the audience to know for granted. There's tons of characters, all of which are relevant, and it's constantly bouncing around them. I guess I should read the books or something.
It's nice to see Sean Bean in a role that he doesn't die in the first episode. RIP Boromir.
