Mario Kart 7: Retail x Digital

Who would be fool enough to buy a game twice? Me of course!!!

The fact is that I sold my retail copy of MK7 for R$ 120,00 and buy the digital copy for around R$ 80,00 (on USA store). So I got a "profit" of R$ 40,00 (that is no much, but it is more than enough to buy a 12 slices pizza for tonight dinner with my family).

The reasons that I like more digital copies than physical copies I'll not state here, but I'll tell exactly what happens with the save data for the games.

Lets see the screens.

First of all, the game progress data is stored on cartridge, so the progress do no appear on the digital game.

The second thing I notice is that StreetPass data remains on both copies. The reason is because that data is stored on SD card and not on the cartridge.

The interesting fact here is that I have a screen full of StreetPass data, and zero StreetPass Tags.

Finally, on StreetPass configs, on Settings, It no appear two instances of MK7, as expected. So if I get a StreetPass now, It will send only the data of one game, and it probably will receive data that may be accessed on both copies.

Well, that's all I notice, on Thursday I'll deliver the physical copy, so If anybody is curious, and want to ask me to do some sort of test, do it until Monday night.

A bit of a bummer that you can't transfer your saves. You should have waited, Nintendo is making an app for that.

Really? It may be usefully, but I doubt that many people will migrate from physical disc to digital game.

For me specifically it doesn't matter. I already cleaned my save data sometimes. I like this game, and playing it over and over is more a pleasure than a problem.

yeh nintendo have confirmed in japan at least they making an app to convert a cartridge save to a digital save, would be ideal for you mate. Still out of iinterest what kind of sd card are you using? is there any noticable difference in loading speeds?

I'm using 8 GB Class 6 SDHC, and until now I fell no difference. I'll try to record and compare both loading times, then I report here.

May I ask a question? Can you actually backup your save file of the digital version? And can you just remove the save data then make another then switch both?

:O I'm interested in knowing this as well.

Well, Now I recorded and take the loading times, it took the same time on both versions, PM if you want to see the video (I suck on video editing so I'll not made it public)

How can I check it?

21 is so few :(

In japan people get this on a week or less

Save your game (or it will save automatically) then take your SD card out, copy the save file and put it somewhere on your computer, delete your save from SD, play the game and let it save again then switch both and see if it works. (Like will it continue from where you saved the first time before creating the second?)

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
