Hacking WiiU is a lost cause

The wii was a system with universal appeal and a gigantic library of games. This meant that there were millions of consoles just waiting for an easy way to pirate games. This laid the foundation for a thriving homebrew scene and made the wii an emulation super console. The wii is still my most played console.

The WiiU is dead. It's library of must have games can be counted on a top ten list, most of which will be in the $5 bargain bin in a matter of months. Plus relatively few people even own the console. At this point I feel like emulation is a more viable means of playing "backups", which let's face it, is all anyone really wants. At this point I feel like a user friendly soft mod is too late to be meaningful.

Sure the people lurking in these threads will be happy, but at this point is there any real motivation for hackers to finish this project?

Bloody hell!! Tell me which bargain bins you are looking at. All the good wii U games sell for full price or close to full price where I live.

If you're trying to de-motivate us from making homebrew, you're doing a bad job.
Us devs do all of this because WE want to. If you don't like what we're doing, then close this browser tab. That's all there is to it.

Keep bad opinions to yourselves, you will not hurt anyone here with bad comments.

I think that the OP doesn't see any homebrew progress (because they, unlike me, are not the most important person in the world) and are wondering why people are pushing for it. Along with the recent teases, I can see where they're coming from. Of course we all know that this is completely unreasonable since the Wii U is the most important console in the world and therefore has all the homebrew developers. Git gud, OP.

Should be the same with the DVDs, that the originial Wii used, or not? :-)
Well its not really the same since for the wii, only t older models could read dvds if i remember right.. wiiU uses a unique kind of bluray reader irc.. maybe to avoid paying rights to Sony :P

Also a Bluray-Player-App would be really nice... Homebrew could do so much for the wiiu. I really like the Tablet and the fact, that you can play 99% of all Nintendo Consoles out there on this device (just no 3ds, but i own one anyway ^^).
I would be happy with a port of WiiMC with HD output obviously, and BD support would be the icing on the cake. Makes me sad that my Wii can't play H.264 MKV files at 720p without lag... 480p is flawless though.

Here's the history on the hacking of the Wii: http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Team_Twiizers

They very clearly had a stance and it was against piracy. So the first half of your post is just speculation.

The Wii had plenty (PLENTY) of non-warez homebrew: http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_all_homebrew

The 3DS has plenty of non-warez homebrew: http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/List_of_3DS_homebrew

As for motivation, there are a couple of distinct groups that have good synergy with each other. It doesn't sound like you would fit in with any of these groups.

EDIT: The attitude represented in the OP isn't unique... It seems like a lot of people act like this and try to actively insist warez is the only good thing (while also simultaneously arguing that the Wii U has no games so warez is pointless). What's particularly upsetting about viewpoints like this is they're basically telling the small community making stuff for Wii U to just give up.

Bait taken. Look at all these nice comments just since last night! Also thanks for moving it to the appropriate location, I hope everyone subscribes :)

Well, personally I'm glad there are still devs (sorry I called them hackers in OP) interested in this project. I guess I'm just sad it probably won't have the impact that letterbomb had on wii. I wrote the post after a six-pack and a long session of scrolling around these forums wishing my WiiU was more awesome.

It's true I am a no good troll at heart, but I do want to clarify that I have tons of respect for devs that are sticking with this project. Keep it up gang!

Oh and wiiMC HD, yeah, I would love that.

I still don't have MK8 Or splatoon but i want it. As soon as is over %50 :P But i do have smash bros, donkey kong country, bayonetta and some others.

I am also curious to see what things can be done with the system that nintendo didn't want to allow or think to do espcially with the unique concept of including a touch screen device, gryo sensor, camera controller that no one else thought to do with game consoles yet.

Sure it may seem like a bust, but nintendo always taking risk like this since NES where they had variety of accessories even if they weren't great sellers. Virtual boy wasn't so great but they took that risk, neither was the E-reader but they tried to make fun unique ways to play games.

Quantity doesn't always make people happy. Is the amount of quality. A martial artist once said I fear not the man who practiced 1000 moves, but the man who practiced a single move 1000 times over. It simply that practice makes perfect and having many things won't mean is a good thing if they hold no value for them.

Is true Wii u don't have many games to play compared to other console but i rather not have a console saturated with so many game to choose from with most of them being bad if i can get a console with ones that keep me coming back for more. If they are making me play them again and again, then the developers are doing their job right until something new and improved shows up. :)

To be honest i think everyone should have all possible consoles, cause there is games that are exlusive to each one and chances are we are never gonn play mario, or zelda on playstation, never gonna see halo or gears of war on Nintendo, or god of war or little big planet on xbox. It may never happen. Wanna play infamous, buy playstation, Wanna play halo, buy xbox, wanna play mario, buy nintendo. If the game is good and what people want they will buy it and.

What's the point of "confirming" games you know will get released. Like Nintendo "confirming" a Zelda sequel. "We can't be sure Nintendo is working on a new Zelda game, or if a new Zelda game will ever be released, until they officially confirm it."
