Download High quality YouTube Videos

To download the High Quality version of the video from YouTube you need to do this: Make a new bookmark and put this code as the location:

Remove space between java script
Code[codebox]
java script:if%20(document.getElementById('download-youtube-video')==null%20&&%20!!(document.location.href.match(/http:\/\/[a-zA-Z\.]*youtube\.com\/watch/)))%20{var%20yt_mp4_path='http://www.youtube.com/get_video?fmt=18&video_id='+swfArgs['video_id']+'&t='+swfArgs['t'];%20var%20div_embed=document.getElementById('watch-embed-div');div_embed.innerHTML=div_embed.innerHTML+'<br%20/>%20<span%20id=\'download-youtube-video\'><a%20href=\''+yt_mp4_path+'\'>Download%20as%20MP4</a>%20(right-click%20and%20select%20<i>Save%20'+%20(navigator.appName=='Microsoft%20Internet%20Explorer'?'target':'link')%20+'%20as</i>)</span>';}void(0);[/codebox]

Then when on Youtube page click the bookmark. An option will appear under the embed code on the right to save as mp4. Right click it and select Save As or it's variant and there you go! Higher quality videos to your hard drive and less time / degradation from conversions.

You need to select the 'All Files' property and save it as '(name).mp4' without quotes.
Nice, I somehow got it to work, I never knew they kept the original file on their servers.
Is the file you get when using this, the file the users uploaded before it got compressed and put into .flv format?

According to this Nov. 2007 article they intend to offer higher quality versions of their videos.

Answer:
Chen also confirmed that in YouTube's internal archive, all video is stored at the native resolution in which it was sent.

This is awesome m8 thanks a lot, comes in very handy here at work as I only have a 60 minute quota for youtube (Websensed) each shift, useable in 10 minute segments. This way I can grab a load of vids in the 10 minutes, then watch them afterwards! Hoorah!
(Hope you don't mind but I put the code in a spoiler box as it was stretching the page lol :D )
Didn't your parents ever teach you to cite your sources (or maybe that'd be your teachers)?

Here's the original article, complete with Greasemonkey script:

That was assumptive and rude. Perhaps if that was the original article or my source, I would have. :teach:

He never claimed it as his creation, and who knows where he found it, maybe it was another post at some forum.
