Prices on Amazon...

Are seriously fucked up, like, is okay, I get it, the existence of 211 bucks PS4 consoles is okay, in fact, it is pretty good for that kind of console, but you are selling Wii U's as high as 411 dollars!? what? I just don't get it, why are prices on Amazon so random, like one thing costs more but another thing costs less than it should, it is so arbitrary than I don't even know where to start.

I guess it is just another part of me that see this as outrageous, then again, the prices of everything have taken a very big hit on everything, especially Nintendo products, just some months ago you could find a N3DS XL on that website with prices from 170 to 230 dollars, and now it is priced new for 300 and 400 dollars, and I'm like "Wtf!?" where did this noticeable rise came from?

I'm cool with the prices of everything not Nintendo related, weirdly enough, cellphones are an OK, as well computers and monitor TV's or displays, but fear goes hard on my mind when I suddenly think about typing on the search bar a Nintendo product, it is just so weird I mean, why is the Wii U so high priced yet you can find reasonable offers on Ebay? The sad thing about eBay is that some of the items available in there aren't what you could call, trusty. It is essentially a lottery, you can get a good product in fine conditions or you can get something heavily scratched and used that it may seem like the console had 10 years less of life.

I'm not exactly knowledgeable when it comes to these sudden scratch on the head prices on online stores, so if someone were to enlighten me, it'd be great, but for now, I'll keep rambling about how some items do cost higher than others that cost much less yet they offer much more than those that are higher priced.

I wonder why the wii u is still expensive..4 years old.
Hoping for n switch to be at least 299 euro or less.

I'm pretty sure this has to do with amazon not actually selling nintendo hardware, so those are all 3rd party merchants either using amazon's warehouses for prime shipping or handling shipping themselves charging whatever they want.

The prices jumped after Pokemon SM released, and never came back down.
Doesn't explain Wii U prices though

It's a seller's market for some things. For popular tech with a proper distributor they will be around retail, but once something gets a bit rare then they jack up the prices.

My guess anyways. But I've seen some things go for 10x or even 50x the original price - though that might just be Amazon Canada

I imagine there are multiple factors at work before I even start getting cynical.

1) Someone listed something 2 years ago and has neglected to change it since -- you and I might care about consoles but to others they are just inventory and if you priced it originally such that you made profit then who cares?
2) Removing a listing is annoying, especially if you have to relist later, so stick the price up high and if someone does buy it then you can just pop out to the shop and pick one up yourself.
3) If prices shoot up for whatever reason, even if it is not one people know the reasoning for, then they move in step with it.
4) If demand shoots up, which can also be people no longer listing items which have been sold, then it can change things.

Generally I would not worry. Your job if you are playing the consumer is to find a deal which works for you, price presumably being a major part of that.

To be honest for buying second hand consoles I would trust Ebay over Amazon, items from sellers on Amazon often have very little description and no photograph, so you have no idea what your getting unless it's new and sealed.

The Wii U is no longer manufactured and never really did that well, which is why any remaining stock will be highly priced. Few places actually stocked many Wii U's so have no large inventory to clear at low prices.

The best time to buy a Wii U was last year, here in the UK you could get a new Wii U with MK 8 for £140, now that's gone up to £300 ($374 USD)

OK they are kinda crazy, but... Get something from ebay, prefebably a broken one with an easy fix, like a 3ds with problematic battery(just 30 euros+ the battery 15 = somewhere between 45).
