Bye bye 3DS

Vita fans might be happy to know my Vita has replaced my 3DS as the console I carry around with me. Ran out of games to play on my 3DS ages ago, only carried it around for Streetpass. I bought Spyro and Abe's Oddysee from PSN after failing to get Adrenaline working and am quite enjoying playing them on my lunch break :-) Meanwhile my poor 3DS now lives in the odds and ends drawer.

"Ran out of games to play on my 3DS ages ago"
I think the real miracle is that you had games to play on it in the first place.

I just don't get this whole mindset of "i'll play this system now" I just play whatever system the game i want to play happens to be on. One week that'll be my vita, the next week my 3DS.

There was a thread asking people if they were going to play their 3DS now that switch is out. Couldn't understand that either.

@dimmidice Is nothing personal, is how people are, a game is a game. You play whatever you want, makes you happy, regardless of what you play it on. But assuming she has henkaku now with psp, and ps1 games and emulators, having more leverage that 3ds has with 3ds, nds (not using roms) and the virtual console games/emulators that may not really rival things.

Besides that, basically she is happy with the two games she mentioned that she may play 3ds again if a game she wants is available. :P

Perhaps she played 3ds enough that vita gets a turn, whatever her case is nothing personal, just how gamer are. A game is a game. :)

^ some gamers are different, i am like the OP and tend to stick with something until I got bored of it then move onto another console... doesn't mean i wont come back to one i was previously bored of though.

Vast majority of games on 3DS/Vita are exclusive though. between one or the other i mean.

I keep telling people, exclusives sell consoles... :ninja:
You buy the system to play the desired game, not the other way around. No one buys system for what it does, but what it can be played. Buy a playstation if you want uncharted, buy a xbox if you want halo, buy a nintendo if you want mario. Is simple. Buy a pc if you want FPS games. :P

". No one buys system for what it does, but what it can be played."
And this is where you're wrong, fam.

He's really not. Well technically he is wrong because he said "no one" but the spirit of his statement is correct. When the system is newly released then people look at the capabilities, but the further along you get the less it matters and the more people look at the games available on said systems. Which is why PSvita didn't so well. It has some very nice games certainly, but compared to 3DS it has a tiny library. Especially a tiny library of exclusives.

Yes, i know. I am known to say things that are wrong, i get over it. I also say things that are right but no one likes to point it out, i get over it. Reasons why opinins exist. :P

I hope we still see you around the 3ds forum section... I think you're a pretty good pal o/

I bought a vita when it was out, I played like 2-3 hours in total, not the best console imo.
the problem was there wasn't a lot of good games

You'll come back; they always come back. Fire Emburems, Ever Oasis, The Snack World, and Monsuta Huntaa+others change the heart, as you'll run out of Vita stuff by fall/winter.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
