Three months since the Switch's been released

At first I really enjoyed it as I had BotW, Puyo, D5 and MK8D to play but once I got bored of these games and finishing the two stages of the Blaster Master Zero demo, I've not touched it again. It's really a damn shame because the system certainly has potential to be great but lacks having an actual retail catalogue of games to purchase.

I know that some are happy that they can play Neo Geo games, indie games and whatever it's on the eShop but this time around I expected Nintendo to have changed but nope. Nintendo's still the same.

The Pro Controller is pretty amazing and nearly identical to the Xbox One controller so it comes handy for games that require the use of a d-pad. I'll say, the Joy-Cons are lovely controllers to hold and play with on each hand, sort of like "Relax Mode" type but I tried playing MK8D and ARMS with it and couldn't get used to it. It worked wonderfully on BotW, PPT + D5 for me.

Games already bought:
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
  • Puyo Puyo Tetris
  • Disgaea 5: Complete
ARMS and Splatoon 2 will be loads of fun but I already tried them out through the Testpunch, Premiere and on the WiiU and found both to eventually be too excessively repetitive for my taste. I got Splatoon for the WiiU back then because it was sold at a budget price whereas on the Switch it costs more than £40+ (about $50 and $50 too much).

Pre-Ordered:
  • The Binding of Isaac - July, 14
  • Super Mario Odyssey (hope that it'll be released on Christmas 2017 as originally intended)
  • Lost Sphear - 2018
And in case that SMO is delayed to 2018 then I might get Sonic Forces as its replacement. Oh, might get Cave Story+ but still not sure (depends on when the European release is out as I prefer European prints for consistency sake and regional preference).

Nintendo can stick Pokkén up their arses. :)

Not a great list of games and not to mention the lack of apps on the Switch too.

You can tell that I'm not one for buying digital games so for me the Switch has even less games than it already does. That "80 games in development" list of Nintendo that they keep bragging on about doesn't mean a whole lot since the Switch in its retail form hasn't got all that much.

@BORTZ Oh yeah, also pre-ordered Xenoblade 2 but that's another one that it's out when it'll be out.

I hate to say this but Nintendo's home consoles will never be the main one-for-all solution with strong third party, instead, it's the console to merely play Nintendo exclusives and nothing else. Everything else, play it on PC/PS4/XO.

Umm you played the demo of blaster master zero? You would like the game if you actually bought the full game, it has dlc as well. Free ones, (Up until a certain date then is paid) But it offers more if you do buy it. I wrote a sweet review of it.... reminds me i forgot to update it for the DLC and update patch changes.

Still I agree, I have 3 games, and now i just want xenoblade chronicles 2 and mario! Bad year for nintendo that is for sure, but least they have 3ds to fall back on.

I would have Ultra street fighter 2 if it wasnt $40, that is a expensive update for a game released so long ago. Bad Move Capcom. Speaking of bad moves, Bad move on mega man legacy collection, BOTH OF THEM O_O

I swear every week is the same dumb stuff. On eshop. One expensive game, one neo geo arcade port and a game no one ever saw coming. Not even indie devs are pushing out games as much for the system, don't get me started on the prices.

The problem is that the system only offers playing games, nothing else. No web browser, no music player, video player, no kind of media at all. Even 3ds had some pre installed stuff.... even if it wasn't used like that face raiders and ar cards, but you could least have tech demo software to try on the system when you don't have games to play. How this system sell so much when you can't even do much on it besides play a game? :wtf:

@Sonic Angel Knight I really enjoyed Blaster Master Zero's demo but I just won't buy the game because it's digital-only, I will however if a physical release is published. I'm hoping they'll do.

I'm in the same situation. Not using the Switch for the moment. In fact, yesterday I wrote something similar. I'll be buying Pokken, but because there is nothing else to buy and don't have a Wii U.

You can bet that we will be seeing Mario Maker Deluxe one of these days.

G
@fedehda I had Mario Maker on WiiU but ended up also being a game I didn't like so as I had the chance to return it for a refund, I did that (did have to pay the return shipping myself but oh well).

Deluxe this, Deluxe that... meh. The one game I honestly wouldn't mind to see getting a deluxe edition would be Smash 4 'cause it has so much DLC and I've yet to play as Ryu on Smash.

Smash would be a really nice game to be on Switch. But I'm mad that the Switch it's a Wii U 2.0

If i want to play Wii U games, I would do it on Wii U. Switch should start having new games for it, instead of portable Wii U ones.

The thing to which I'm most looking forward on the Switch is probably Rainway, a method of streaming PC games, and that's probably not a good statement on the quality of the Switch's game catalog right now.

i really want to play Mario Odyssey aka Super Mario 64 HD
and the other wii u games ported, they must be so cool

  1. Is eshop exclusive
  2. Well I'm glad you enjoy it but you are missing out on much more.
You can see it in my review or just watch a youtube video. There will be many games not released at retail cause of the expensive carts that nintendo has, so is not well expected to see your favorite game at retail unless they are a big time publisher which the devs was not. Blaster master zero was made by inti creates, with license from sunsoft. (The original devs) Unless a publisher like Yatch club games will do a publishing, most likely they will have to add more content to the game cause as it is, would be a waste to have a less than 300MB game on one of those expensive carts, it will also cost more money to purchase.

There was a detailed video i found few months ago explaining the publishing of nintendo switch games but i forgot to bookmark it. Anyway is not a retail game mostly cause of the fact is choice is to be eshop exclusive, is a very low budget game, ($10 least where i am) and doesn't feature enough content to be of a higher tier AAA quality. Anyway I hope you find games to play, but that why we buy more than one console, if we had only switch to play is either play the switch or nothing. We used to do that long time ago when all we had was a few consoles and games like NES. Play one boring game or another boring game, is this or that or nothing. :P

Well, @Sonic Angel Knight, Shovel Knight started out as a digital-only indie game and then it received physical releases across different platforms. I suppose there's some hope, even if it's extremely thin.

A physical hard copy of Blaster Master Zero would make an awesome Switch collector's game.

G
@hobbledehoy899 It's too big for my arse. :P

Well I wasn't saying is out of the realm of possibility, but yes, Yatch club games got enough funds to publish retail copies of the games, just like azure striker gunvolt Striker pack which was a joint effort of inti creates making the two games and yatch club publishing and marketing the games as well as including a crossover content was a good thing.

Azure striker gunvolt 1 & 2 are available on 3DS eshop for $15 each for a total of $30 and there is more dlc available to it. Blaster Master Zero is only $10 with 2 dlc. That wouldn't really go well selling a game on cart for MSRP of $10 would it? No one would sell a game that low in a store as a new released product. The standard is $30-$60 with special editions costing more. Digital only games are mostly lower like $20 or less. The cost for 3DS and switch carts are more valuable, so unless they buff the price up to $30+ or something which unless they are adding more content to the purchase it may not seem as well worth the cost.

I would not have a problem with selling retail copies of the game, but the fact is digital only makes it affordable. You got a game like Puyo Puyo tetris which cost $40 retail but $30 digital. Why? Cause they added 2 keychains to the retail purchase. Even if you didn't want the key chains, you will still have to buy the game at $40 unless you find some scumbag on ebay selling you the game with no box, case instruction manual and key chain, and i say scumbag cause they do this and it just silly. $5 for a box cause they wanna keep the game. $12 for just the game with no box cause they either lost the box, broke it or sold it. :P

I'm looking forward to have a switch actually now get this....

I N S T O C K!

G
@Sonic Angel Knight In Europe they didn't include the keychains and it still cost £34.99 but I never cared about that, frankly.

FAST Racing NEO disc release on Wii U was released for £19.99 while the digital was £9.99 so clearly it cost more but it was also physical, so I didn't mind paying the extra price. FRN was released on physical format by Nintendo under the eShop Selects but generally games cost a bit more on physical format anyway.
