What are your favorite Final Fantasy games?

OTHER THAN VII.

I decided that I haven't played enough Final Fantasy, and I want to beat some of the best ones before Dissidia comes out. So far, I've beaten

-FF IV
-FF VII
-FF VIII
-FF X
-FF X-2

Am I missing any "gems"? I know FF IX is supposed to be really good, so I'm downloading it so I can play it on my PSP. What are your faves?

Play the first game, V and VI.

Definatly play IX. Don't stop half way through like I did my first time playing, though.

I loved first two!
They are great..

Remake of the third was my favorite NDS game for a long time..

I never payed VII, but I heard some great things about it, and I'm planning to play it one day..

My favorite was the first one I played, and that was Final Fantasy VI.
I was in complete awe over Final Fantasy VII but I don't think it's my favorite.
I was more in to the SNES games.

Oh, I forgot to mention I beat Crisis Core ;P

I'll give V, VI, and IX a shot.

In order of likeliness:
1.Final fantasy 9
2.Final fantasy 10
3.Final fantasy 5
4.Final fantasy 12
5.Final fantasy 7
6.Final fantasy 8
7.Final fantasy 6
8.Final fantasy 4
9.Final fantasy 1
10.Final fantasy 2
11.Final fantasy 3 (Only played the DS remake)

If FFTA counts then it's 2nd.

Final Fantasy VI (3 for us americanz). Was the first one I played and I loved it. I had the original but sadly I sold it. I kick myself over that fact a lot. I did get 100$ out of the deal though but still I regret it.

2 was a pretty underrated game, so if you have some spare time after beating V, VI and IX then give that a play.

It's not great, but still pretty good. Some plot twists here and there, too.

The only ones I've cared enough to finish:
VI, VII, and X. I enjoyed V but I never finished it. VI is my favorite without a doubt.

I hated VIII's love story, I didn't care about the characters of IX. I always got bored of IV when going through it, the DS remake kicked my ass. I can not stand I through III for just how damn dated they are, even the DS remake.

Did not like XII's battle system either. It was a single player MMO...

I love VIII and it's story. It is actually one of the only FF games I enjoy. The other ones I like are from the Tactics series though, so Tactics, Tactics Advanced, and Tactics Advanced 2

VII is WAY overrated. I hated it's game play and characters, and the story for me was just "meh".

Heh. Minus VII makes this hard mode for a lot of people. :ha:

XII (hit and miss for people, I certainly liked it by mid-game)
FFTA (also hit and miss, some veterans of FFT won't find this too appealing)
FFT
X
IV
VI
IX

FF IV (I think that is 4), FFVI(I think that is 6??), FFVII, FF7 crisis core, and FF10.

Final Fantasy Tactics. If you like Disgaea, you'll most likely love Tactics. I haven't played the remake one for the PSP yet. But the PSX one was amazing. The story's deep and the gameplay is fun.

I promise I won't rant...

IX is, by far, the best 3D one for many reasons (which I won't state here, but have stated previously).

V is the greatest 16-bit one (with IV and VI tied for second [think about that :-P]).

The 8-bit ones are mostly the same, but II pulls out a little ahead of the other two.

Tactics (the original one for PS1) was the best "different" one (though the other Tactics were pretty good too). Crisis Core was good too, but all those other spin offs are complete shit.

VII is the single most over-rated game in the history of gaming, and not very Final Fantasy-ish at that (once again, I won't rant here, but I've said why in other threads).

VI, IX and XII definitely, VI had a badass villain and lead, IX was just awesome even if you can't figure out what's Kuja's gender and XII was awesome minus Vaan, VII is horribly overrated, a message to fanboys, SEPHIROTH IS NOT THE ULTIMATE VIDEO GAME VILLAIN, HE WAS JUST A HORRIBLY STUPID AND MISLED MAMA'S BOY.

Kefka destroyed the world for a laugh, in which he succeeded in doing. Sephiroth did it to impress his mommy, but he failed after getting stopped by dead people. Sephiroth's final form is just a bad clone of Kefka's, Sephiroth's motivation is his mommy and revenge, the latter being a cliche.

Sephiroth is just a cheap, recycled failure of Kefka. Driven insane by an experiment? Check. Went rogue against the side he first belonged to? Check. Used some magic rocks that helped out in his plan of world destruction? Check. Wanted to destroy the world and become a god? Check! Except Kefka actually did the last one. Sephiroth...not so much.
