Irma

Irma's coming tomorrow night. I live in Florida, and it looks like my area will be affected pretty bad (evacuations were mandated very close to me). We put up our shutters and made preparations (water, non perishable food, flashlights, stuff like that) but I'm still super nervous. Hopefully all will be good.

Just curious but what area of Florida do you live in? I have family in the Tampa area and they said there's no bottled water, canned food, or gas anywhere to be found. Anyways stay safe out there. I hope you make it through the Apocalypse before the hurricane Apocalypse and the hurricane Apocalypse too. :P

I live in South Florida, close to Miami (specifically in Broward). We thankfully have food, water, and gas available because stores/stations have been restricting the amount we can get per person. It's worked out pretty well, since they're not being unreasonable but are preventing people from panicking and getting everything they have (on Monday, one lady took all the water in our local supermarket, it's to stop stuff like this). My family has everything we need, we just hope to not get any damages.

We don't live far from each other, I feel the same way. Hopefully everything goes fine. Also, best of luck to you and your family.

@ThisIsDaAccount Thank you. Best of luck to everyone with you as well.

I mean this just isn't Florida's luck. The eye of the storm is tracing up the middle of the state. Talk about maximum damage ;-;

Um, leave dude. There's another one behind that.
From what I'm hearing it's actually getting fairly hard to evacuate in certain areas.

All this lousy weather over there makes me feel kind of bad that I am either consoling people in Washington state that have had made two days of rain in months or that today where I was at it rained quite hard and meant I had to take my rain coat.

Anyway blogs so inappropriate song

Looks like it's going straight over Florida and is going to fly right over me. :(
I'd rather have the storm loom over here in the georgia mountains though than over Florida, we can handle a lot of rain. I'm just worried about the winds right now but they're saying they'll die down by the time they get here. Stay safe all my fellow tempers in Florida and everyone else in the path!

Small update: yesterday went by OK without much trouble. We just bunkered up and did whatever we could do for entertainment. Amazingly, the power still hasn't gone out in my house, even though we totally expected it to have by know. Here's a map of where Irma is at the moment (Sat, 11:25 ET):

It seems for now to be going up the west coast of Florida. I'm personally very close the east coast, but I feel terrible for everyone closer to the west coast (best of luck guys). I heard somewhere that the worst for me would come 4 am today, but apparently the eyewall will be closest to me around 8pm (according to my news station's hurricane tracker app). Even though today will probsbly get more intense, hopefully it'll go by like yesterday.

Don't you know that the area next to the eyewall is the most destructive part?
Why don't you leave?

I've heard the force has been downgraded to 2 instead of 5 (1/3 of wind strength), there shouldn't be as much destruction than the island before that. Only flood is expected.
I hope everything will be fine for all Florida's resident.

Update: lost power and water but I'm great, the worst Irma did was knock over some trees and make noise. Since I was on the opposite coast I was nowhere near the eyewall.

I suggest everyone contact their friends and families on Florida's west coast. They got hit very, very badly. Best of luck to everyone there.

Edit: Power's back

Wish they would let us play the NCAA football 14 on newer xbox, its one of the only games I love and own on disc still, that is not back compatible, bs.

@BigOnYa My dad recently bought a spare Series X off of me, got game pass, and saw Madden '24 on Game Pass, decided to try it out.

...He was a bit taken aback by the 60GB download size. Poor guy's still living in the 90s!

@K3Nv2 He was looking into consoles for his house anyway (for my younger siblings and himself) and I had a spare XSX and Switch I ended up selling him at pretty steep cuts. I would just give them to him, but I did buy them with the intent to sell them... and college is super expensive.
