Family Issues. Writing to feel better

Well lately theres been some family trouble in my life. I really don't wanna talk about it to my other family and since we just moved i don't really have any friends yet. So i thought id share it here to feel better. Its nothing big but to me it feels huge since i never had a family trouble like this. i mean i used to but not in years.

We moved to the county beside the big city. And my mom wants to go shopping a little ways in the city. but my dad hates the city and refuses to go, which is totally reasonable. But my mom keeps bringing up her wanting to go to the city. so our family close to us will take her which is a win win for both of them. but recently my dad would make mean remarks to my mom regarding the city shopping. Even though she is making plans to have someone else drive her. He's being plain stubborn and mean. Today i made the mistake of saying something about his remarks to him. i didn't say much and he got really mad. Now he won't talk to us and would show his angry by guestures like slamming the door and stuff.

Now idk wut to say, if anything. I understand him not wanting to drive in city but idk why he keeps making mean remarks to my mom regarding the city yet she has another driver.

I just feel...a scared sinking feeling in my stomach when i hear them arguing and when ik there's tension. idk how to explain it.

Well thanks to anyone who took the time to read this. now that im done writing, i feel a bit better.

Thanks blue. idk either. its not a big deal but when i think of the tension i feel like crying. i do sometimes like rn but it should get better. i hope.

don't worry acrux, i'm sure you will get better soon, and you family will get better too
just don't be sad please
don't cry : (

do it, you need to handle your problems until they get solved, the only thing i hate to see is someone crying :/

I don't know your family situation, but I can tell you when there are problems, it's best to get everyone on the same page and not raise voices while doing it. The first step is asking if someone wants to talk. Then, finding a compromise or working out apologies.

Hope it turns out well for you, regardless.

Aww Acrux, don't cry :(
I went through a similar time in my life, so I know exactly what you're feeling. Things like this, they're often out of our control. But you will be alright, my friend. This too shall pass. Hopefully you'll feel better soon!
Here, you might get a kick out of this:

be the first to apologize to your dad. i mean, it sounds like you didnt mean to say what you did. also, yes, your mom going with other people is a great idea. my wife goes out with her friends and i get time to myself. take turns to get out the house is great for everyone. i hope though, that if you do apologize to your dad (in front of your mom, perhaps), maybe everyones mood will lighten up.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I'll definitely apologize first when he cools down a bit. It has already but its night so tomorrow. It kinda comes in spurts so i hope everything is good tomorrow

Don't worry, my father's also a steamhead but luckily, there haven't been any conflicts between my mother and father.

Your dad is acting like a child. If he doesn't want to change that, you can't make him. Don't feel responsible for his childish actions. It's not your fault.

@Acrux Your father is being a child, don't let it get to you. Let him have his little fit and move on with your life. I get how you feel to have your father mad at you, but he still loves you, he just needs to calm down.

My dad does some pretty retarded stuff that he is oblivious to a lot and hypocritical about. The best thing would be to talk. Making sacrifices is an important part of being in a family but it's not a one way thing. Compromise and sacrifice I think is what needs to happen. It's what loved ones do for another

Hey, it's going to be alright. Bad relationships whether its parental, friendship, or a couple happens to all of us one way or another. We all have demons to face and each of us are fighting them on our own way. Just gotta stay strong and don't let it get to you too much. I know it's easier said than done, but you can go through this!

Thanks guys. I'm feeling better. I'll probably talk to him tomorrow. Actually i've been thinking of going to see a councillor at school. Simple things like my parents arguing really effect me in a bad way. Well any sort of arguing or even drunk ppl affects me greatly. Probably because of past experiences. I thought they were in the past and all i needed to do was shove them away and they'd be gone but these little things are impacting me because i never resolved my issues or opened up. Even up till today i thought it would go away but now i realize that i need to talk to someone. i should've seen a councillor long ago. Well thanks guys for helping me realize this

Hopefully that counselor can help you move on past whatever memories are bothering you. It's always relieving to talk to someone about your troubles. Even just writing down your feelings helps you let it out somewhere so it isn't bouncing around in your brain. That said, I'm glad you're feeling better ^-^

Don't worry about it, tensions in families happen often. Just wait some weeks and it will be(hopefully) forgotten
