Why are Americans so freaking sensitive

*Disclaimer* if you get offended by anything I say, that is not my attention however, you'll be proving my point.

I've been thinking lately (a dangerous pastime I know) but I've noticed that Americans are extremely sensitive. What ever happened to "suck it up" or "get over yourself"? For example I have said that I do not agree with homosexuality but I still am friends with and love homosexual people despite me not agreeing with this lifestyle, of course I was still called homophobic and got a lot of hate by some pansies who couldn't respect other people's thoughts. Another example is the is viewpoints on celebrities and the like. I've noticed people being unnecessarily bashed for not liking a generally liked person or vice versa. The most extreme example is something I saw today. There was a video of a photographer being observed by a young elk. It showed mildly hostile behavior as it would bend it's head down and buck the man who was sitting on the ground. He stayed down so he wouldn't upset the elk and he got away unharmed. The elk was later put down for "repeated aggressive behavior". At least 80% of the comments said that the man had performed animal abuse because the elk was put down even though he did absolutely nothing to harm it. People went as far as to say that the man should have been put down. This begs the question. What causes us Americans to be so easily offended and hate others just because they differ in opinion? What do you guys think?

What would you see as equality with men, then?... I'm literally just trying to wrap my head around your viewpoint because so far it just seems to be completely backwards to me

The bible truly sets the perfect standard for right and wrong! Things such as how to buy sell and beat your slaves, how if a woman is raped the man must marry her and that you should stone your unruly children. Fuck the bible and its racist, homophobic values. Your god is a moral thug. The god of the bible is a homophobe, so if you follow those values you are one too...

Not all Americans, just the younger generation mostly. The "Internet kids" who were raised online, and melt at the drop of a hat. Tumblr kids easily triggered by comments online.
The slightest little thing makes them melt, so we've dubbed them "snowflakes".

@SG854 If they want to destroy men, ideally lesbian would have the ability to reproduce, and in that case the daughter won't suffer from never meeting her biological father, and men would lose their purpose of reproduction.

People need to remember that this world in its pre-Christian state already have marriage, even in female dominant societies.

Altought what Bible teaching says stricte about homosexuality and many various interpretation, It's just about fruits. I think it came natural to be with oposite sex and have a baby. Both people are able to make a human. What an amazing thing. Maybe I'm too much idealistic but I wish everyone to enjoy regular family so I can understand OP in this matter. Civilisation of homosexualists can't survive too long, no babys, no future.

That is a rather simplistic view

One needs only a turkey baster to sort that problem though (the knowledge of the role semen plays being known to the ancient greeks at least), and with the coming development of artificial wombs...

Similarly where does that leave child free, those religious types that also produce no children, or indeed those with a single child (replacement rate is about 2.33, though can decrease if you lessen mortality with medicine or something). Likewise civilisation came about once we got the chance to specialise thanks to food surpluses. While surpluses are nice they are not post scarcity civilisations and thus if I don't have to feed some screaming children I can instead focus my resources on research or art or something. Similarly there is a phrase along the lines of "it takes a village" when discussing the raising of children, and biology also recognises something called the grandparent effect (those which have their grandparents stick around do better).

What about bisexual people? What about those in 3 or more people relationships (biologically speaking it is common in animals and humans are also no exception, even if you sort of have to count serially at times which biology does not care about).

Biology also provides a whole bunch of other interesting effects -- younger brother in fraternal twins, oestrogen in wombs, the correlations between how many children your grandmother had and the subsequent increased likelihood of homosexual grandchildren. Similarly if it is so deleterious to the species then why has it stuck around for thousands of years?

Pwoar, this is the most attention I've seen a blog entry gain in a while.
All I'm going to say is I personally don't agree with homosexuality being viewed as a lifestyle, just as I wouldn't consider being straight a lifestyle.
Everything else that's been raised I, uh, I'm not gonna touch

Why does everyone seem to care what other people do with their weiners? There was a time, not long before that silly book was written, where homosexuality was normal and wives were primarily for reproduction. And it had been that way longer than that book has been around. Do heterosexuals reproduce? Sure, but does that mean it's a god given law that requires other people's approval? No.

Religious people are religious primarily out of fear. They can't cope with the uncertainty of existence and the permanence of death, so they cling to stories, however irrational, to help ease that anxiety. So much so that it is impossible to shake them from it. The fear of letting the dogma go is too great. That coping mechanism is applied to every other aspect of life they fear. Homosexuality, evolution (being that we are only animals), abortion, etc.

@plasturion To be fair look at most western civilizations (and Russia) they are dying.

And to all the comments calling homosexuality a lifestyle...it's not. It's not like drinking or smoking unless you believe those creepy pray the gay away people. And I have a story about that but not now. Well my point is homosexuality is natural and I'm sure god doesn't care BECAUSE my grandma doesn't hate gays or think they are evil and she hates all non-Catholics...not hates just wants to fix. As a comparison I was raised to believe Judaism and Protestantism were a lifestyle. So even if you don't like gay people there is no logical reason to deny them benefits unless you are an asshole (or want a Christian run country(I'm still scared after watching The Handmaid's Tale)). Well, also I love animals they are cute!

Western civilizations and Russia are dying? What are you talking about? We run the entire world.

@WeedZ excluding America all of the other nations have a close to or a negative birthrate. I live in one of the worst countries for birthrates.I hope it will change but I honestly don't think much can be done.

God loves all of his children. After all, if God was homophobic, and is all knowing, he wouldn't have sent those that he knew would be gay.

God is perfect. His church is perfect. The members and followers are not perfect. It is as simple as that.

And the family should consist of a stay at home wife. They should be able to care for their children, and telling them that is wrong and that they should divorce to be single while still having their kids is not going to do anything good for the kids.

In my experience, families where the parents both work have kids who want attention, so they do bad things. Because negative attention is better than no attention at all.

@blujay sorry dude, but that is the most absurd thing I've ever heard. I'll avoid all the "imperfect" things God and the church have done, but the family standards you have are unfounded. There's no reason at all why a family unit should have a stay at home wife. Some families don't have a mother at all, often for tragic reasons. Negative attention is never better than nothing. Kids that are raised in a family unit where the parental figures hate each other and stay together for the sake of children rarely develop healthy relationships in the future.

@blujay if you think God loves His children you should try reading the Old Testament, that'll fix that view in a jiffy

That's also one of the many reasons that I view the Bible as an imperfect interpretation that lays the foundation for Christianity, but shouldn't be taken word-for-word

I don't use only the bible when it comes right down to it. I have three other books of scripture that I follow, and if you felt at liberty to read those, they would fix those in a jiffy too.

Nephi, Jacob, Enos, Jarom, Omni (and his sons), Mosiah, Alma, Helaman, more prophets named Nephi, Mormon, Ether (well, actually this is an interesting case I wont' go into), and Moroni. This book was translated by Joseph Smith.

The other two are written and added on to by latter day prophets.
