As for why I lost it, I was in a program that was conditional on me graduating last year, but I failed one subject. If I had passed it, I would have had a promotion with about a 50% payrise right now :-( As for why I failed, combination of friend's suicide, hostile culture at work, family issues, and others. Doing 3 subjects while working full time was always going to be difficult even if everything else went great so I'm choosing not to beat myself up about it (got a distinction and pass in the other two - equivalent to an American A and C I think).

Luckily I took out some insurance with my mortgage so I will have about 3/4 of what I was earning for 3 months to look for new work. Hopefully I find something by then! I can start applying for graduate positions at government departments soon but they don't start until next year, if selected. So even if I get into one I'd have to find something for the rest of the year.

There's no Walmarts here but yeah if it comes to it I'll try my luck with the Aussie equivalents Big W, Kmart, or Target :-)
