Oh ITunes, we meet again.

Ah ha ha, so, I've made it a rule of life to nt use iTunes, but oh man, it's hard when dealing with apple products. Let me tell you a story.

So my friend gave me his old iPad 2 because his sister got a new one (it was his sister's) and it was in fair condition. It took me a few days to get a charging cable but i did. I charged it up and it turned on. Works fine, but it was locked with a passcode that my friend didn't know. Oops. So I ask around on the r/jailbreak discord on what i could even do with an iPad 2.

Oh, apple is still signing ios 6, from there i can upgrade to ios 8 and untether jailbreak! Sounds awesome, right?

Well, if you remember my old blog about itunes restoration , then it's not that easy....

I download the ios 6 file, try to restore. It should work, but it doesn't. Nothing works. I end up downloading another ipsw file and it doesn't work.

I have to stay up untill 12AM just trying in vain and praying that it will restore. It ends up restoring to ios 6 and i downgrade to ios 8.

ITunes is such a piece of fucking garbage.

I see an alert for blogs, first word I see is iTunes, and I can just feel the foreboding dread of circa 2009 having to use that trash software. Never. Again.

The UWP iTunes app cannot come soon enough.


It problably will never come though, as Apple seems to be making it clear that they have lost focus on the software front and are incapable of pulling off any major code overhauls.

Apple products overall require patience and a maximum of two functioning brain cells to be honest. As I sit here my phone (Apple) is freaking out, turning ringer on and off without me even touching it.

Honestly it’s a mess, plus their entire software is just slow, not to mention the fact they slow down older phones?

I have no clue on how good your tech skills are, but libimobiledevice and idevicerestore specifically have existed for a while now and can restore an iDevice without using iTunes.

You'll need to compile it though.

Not just iTunes, all apple programs suck. This comes from a guy who has an iPhone 4S, and can't update because it'll make it slow as hell.

My dad's phone is on iOS 11, and I was really hyped for the Files app even though I wouldn't be able to use it and...it's completely useless. Fucking useless. Seriously, it only gives you access to some of the storage partition, it's read-only, and you don't even get access to the critical partitions!

It's like GodMode9, but if it only showed the CTRNAND titles, was read-only, and you can't do anything with the files.
Godammit apple.

@SirNapkin1334 - Install Documents 6, its much better at file management than apples tool.

It's the closest you get to Filza on a not-jailbroken device.

    Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
