The G̶u̶l̶f̶ Gay Stream, or How to Get Half a City to Hate Gays in One Day

Alright, before you get your dick and/or tits in a twist (yowch!), I don't hate gays. Gotcha? Okay.

Now I'm gonna tell you about an experience I've had today. There was a gay carnival thing in Budapest today and I just so happened to have business there. I didn't know this was happening, nor did apparently the hundreds of other people I saw trying to go the same way I was. Let me explain.
I just got my grandma a new laptop. Her old, 12-year old computer finally gave in, and I had to deliver her shiny new lappy today. On my way I realised something was wrong. I was going by tram, but it stopped a stop before I had to get off. Turns out that stop was closed off. And not just that stop. The entirety of Andrássy Avenue was closed off. It's a very long avenue, so I couldn't just walk around it. Not if I wanted to finish today. There was some kind of gay festival going on. Thousands of gays went along the avenue, blocking thousands of other people's access to the other side.
My next idea was to go to the nearest Metro station and go under. I don't think I mentioned the long walk I had to make just to get from the tram stop to Andrássy Avenue. And now I had to go back, since the Metro station was in the same area as the tram stop. When I got there, I noticed that the Metro was closed off as well. I have no idea why they thought no one could go under the Gay Stream but they did and I couldn't change that fact. There was only one other thing I could do. Go to the tram line's end and get on another Metro. Thankfully that one was in operation. It dropped me off on the other side of the Gay Stream, about a kilometre walk away from my grandma. I got there, gave her the laptop and got home. Thankfully the avenue was opened again by the time I had to cross it again.
Why did they have to do this? I have no idea. Pride month was in June, right? Why do it now anyway? And this whole thing is a really bad idea. Only locals knew about it and it fucked with thousands of people's commutes and extended my trip from ~2.5 hours to 4...

@kingy "Thousands of gays went along the avenue, blocking thousands of other people's access to the other side." just sounds very off. It's exactly how a homophobe would phrase it to be honest. It's basically ignoring they're people first. Now again not saying he intended that. Just saying that if OPs intent was to make the post about the event annoying him , and not about "dem damn gays!" he chose his words poorly. Maybe it's because of his native tongue even. I have no idea.

Blaming an specific group for something could do a different group is biased, I had some events that happened in my city and I had some delays, your title is very problematic, not the half city will hate the "gays" for the inconvenience, is one of your problematic statement and just in the title

Like smileyhead himself said, the focus was more on some casual ranting and release about a crowded event and how that made accomplishing the task of delivering a laptop to his grandmother a bit of a pain in the ass. The focus was not meant express resentment towards the intent of said event (in this case, a gay pride event, from the sound of it). On a personal level, I'm sure a lot of people here resent large crowds and events that impede their day-to-day tasks. A blog post would've still been made, even if the event was a sports gathering or political rally.

It's not the group's fault that information wasn't properly dispersed to the community and thus caused an inconvenience. At the same time it's completely on you to know what's going on in your community and your failure to do so is completely on you.
I would like to add that there's no reason to only hold events in June and they most likely only had an opening in July. Still it really doesn't matter, I actually used to help setup Pride events in from May to August when I was in High School. It's not easy to get one in June unless you book far in advance because literally everyone shooting for June.
What I am trying to say is that the city's failure to inform the community and the community's failure to keep up with current events is not the event holder's fault.

@DeslotlCL Wow, the guy with a scaly profile pic assumes this guy hates gays despite the disclaimer at the beginning. What a fucking shock. People acting like you are now is why other people can't stand your "social group." ...just saying. You just look for ways to make it about you, don't you? I'm pretty damn sure OP would be just as pissed if the event was for LITERALLY anything else, considering it still would have slowed his trip. ...idiot.

@nine0nine - Apparently you, since you read it.

@dimmidice - Pretty sure Trump isn't actually a cheeto, nor senile, nor mentally disabled, as funny as the joke is. I get what you mean, though. It's just a bad example that's more likely to spark another debate, rather than shed light on the current one.

@Lilith Valentine - Pride rallies have to be the worst idea ever. You have a group of people, trying to just ask people to let them fit into society, and not hate them for who they are. That's more than understandable. Who wouldn't want that? ....but having a fucking parade about it? That is probably LITERALLY the most attention-drawing event you could do. In order to fit in, you must blend in. I'd say that's true for anyone, regardless of sexual preference. Making a lot of noise and bothering people to get your message out is NOT a good way to make people like you.

@Depravo Fair enough, but through context of the story, I genuinely believe him. Why would this event be any less bothersome to him if it wasn't about gays?

@MadMageKefka
Even in context there's no reason to blame/hate the event holders. It doesn't help that this blog basically comes off as blaming gay people for the town's failure to inform people of this event.

@MadMageKefka I believe him too but the title and tone of the thread is likely to attract two kinds of people and I'm trying to dissuade both.

If they want to be treated like everyone else why are they doing parades? Have you ever seen a heterosexual parade?

@MadMageKefka Funny, because how she worded her blog clearly demostrates that she is blaming the people of the carnival, as quoted here:

Why did they have to do this? I have no idea. Pride month was in June, right? Why do it now anyway?

So what? You cant tell me she is NOT blaming the lgbt people there. She clearly is. People can organize parades whener the fuck they want. If you will blame someone, blame the city authorities for not being caapable enough of informing about it.

Holly hell, you are the one being salty here.

@Lilith Valentine I completely get your point. The event was clearly planned, and it's up to the people to get informed about it. That's mostly true. I don't know all the details, so maybe for all we know the town said literally nothing about it? Either way, your point is that the participants of the event are not the ones at fault, and that's true.

...but my point is a bit different. I'm not saying they are a problem for holding the event, or that it is their fault. I'm saying that this specific group tends to create a lot of noise when putting out their message, and that's not a good strategy to get what they want. In fact, I'd say it promotes the exact opposite. Imagine if I went around a college campus with a flag and handed out fliers about how I'm straight, and why that's not a thing to make fun of. I may have a right to do that, but it would annoy people and maybe even offend a few of the LGBT community, who might see that as an attack on them because I'm promoting something that's "normal" even though people don't like that word.

This world is fucked up. We have made AMAZING progress as far as equality is concerned, but with the tactics being used today, and the uprising of PC culture and SJWs, I honestly think we are moving backwards. Imagine If I held a white pride rally? I'd probably be arrested and accused of being a racist.

@comput3rus3r
The point of these events are celebrations of progress and remembering history. A heterosexual pride event is rather unnecessary as there's really no reason for one. Heterosexuals never had their rights removed, questioned, nor even remotely threatened. There's never been a point in history where heterosexuals were thrown out of their homes for being straight. There's never been a point where they were beaten near/to death for being straight. A heterosexual pride event would just be a mockery of another group's history just for the sake of having an equal attention cake.

@Lilith Valentine - So you're saying one group has more right to something than another, based on history? That's a bit messed up. Did you know Hartford is having a black only graduation? Well blacks were slaves in the past, and segregated after, so does that make it okay for them to repeat the mistakes of the past and segregate the school's graduation ceremony? Of course not. I think people's views of right and wrong are strictly selfish a lot of the time, and it makes the whole group look bad.

Damn, now I made it all political.

@MadMageKefka She's not saying that heterosexuals don't have the right to hold a parade. By all means they do, but what she's saying is that it would be close to, if not, mockery for them to hold a parade to celebrate their own sexuality due to the abuse homosexuals have faced from the beginning of time to, still, now.
