Drug Addiction and You

Was a little hesitant about making this, but I'd like to hear from you guys about your prior or ongoing experiences about drugs and the addictive effects they can have on you and your mental well-being.

It's just so nice being able to forget about the world and all the harsh shit that's going on, all while feeling better than you've ever felt before. It's just nice.

I don't have much else to say, but I'd love to hear some of your stories and experiences.

Cheers.

Don't do drugs, they ruin your life and health.
I know cus I done that before.

It really isn't worth sticking a needle in your arm for half an hour only to relapse back into reality and selling your mum for your next fix.

It's never worth it, is it? But sometimes you just can't help yourself unless you get another fix.

Really fucking awful but it's tough thing to knock, even with help.

I actually had a very serious problem with alcohol up until recent months. I started drinking pretty heavily for several years due to me just hating my life and deciding that being drunk all the time was better than dealing with the abuse I was going through. It was actually a problem that caused me to nearly die several times due to alcohol poisoning. It wasn't a fun experience, I have a lot of fuzzy memories from those times and really only remember just spending most of my days waiting for my next night off to make another attempt on my life. There was nothing nice about it and it only served as a prolong means to an end for me.
Honestly if it wasn't for my girlfriend, I am pretty sure I would be dead right now. She got me away from my abusive exes and outside just a few drinks here and there on the weekends, I barely touch the stuff. It was just a sad means to getting by for me when I had no hope for my future.

I like smoking weed sporadically (Tolerances suck) but I stay away from everything else. Tried different things but weed was all that stuck. And cigs but I quit that shit a few months ago. I'd say in America, alcohol is the biggest threat to an individuals future. There are various risks including addiction, overdose, and culture that make me believe that.

brickmii82 thats not true at all lol. I have close friends that have fell from cocaine/ron addiction. Kicking those two forever is basically impossible.

Weed seems so much safer compared to a lot of prescription drugs you can abuse here, so it's kinda fucking dumb that it's still illegal here.

Glad you gave up smoking cigs though, that shit is more life ruining than a lot of other things depending on how much you smoke, but there's too much profit to be made from them for it to get banned.

today i went to police station for an personal issue, i met a young dude who's my
acquaintance. he was caught when he was trying to sell ''herbs''... and you can get arrested if you just keep ur ''herbs'' in pocket :)

and for those people who got arrested for ''herbs'' issues i pretty sure they will never ever find a job EVEN one day they decide to quit.

I usually work over 200 hours a month. Realistically on average 240. Sometimes as high as 253.
My workload is quite harsh and we are losing more and more good colleagues. So my workload rises.
But during the last two months i still had to take care of everything university related and since i couldnt get any time off i did so during the day, while i worked at night.
I just couldnt keep up anymore. Slept on average 2 hours a day and used some fairly harsh stimulants in very high doses, which only exacerbated everything. This isnt the first time i had grasped for straws and ended up using drugs to keep going and while they let me do that, they also completely destroy me.
There arent many mainstream drugs i havent given a try, but none of them are actually helpful and even if so, not for very long and you pay for it later.
The only thing that has ever done me any good is Kratom.
It gives me a stability i would never experience otherwise.

Maluma I think what Im getting at isn't clicking for you. Yes cocaine and heroine can kill you, but they're not as promoted and available for EVERYONE as alcohol. I can promise you that alcohol has ruined more lives than all others combined in America. Its a culture trap.

Leon315 Arent you in Germany? I thought they were kinda easy going on herb?

You absolutely do not need a reason to not use drugs. It's natural to search relief, and the pain is all too natural part of being alive too. All I ever use is small amounts of alcohol, especially since they've built an outstanding winery in my tropical birthplace, which was pretty unexpected. I absolutely do not encourage the usage of any illegal drug nor think any should be legalized. I only feel empathy for the poor users of such, they're obviously going through a painful life they'd want relief from. My life is too awesome for anything like that.

That is when it gets bad. Having some fun is one thing but when it starts to become a crutch or coping mechanism is when it is wrong. Probably best to stay away from the chemically addictive things as well.

Since I've had kids, I just stick with kratom and alcohol when they aren't around. Maybe a couple norcos or some codeines if someone has extras they give me, but that's like once every 6 months or something. If I've ever been addicted to anything, it's caffeine. That's some nasty shit.

Jesus Christ, BORTZ. It must have been very painful.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be doing drugs anytime in the future.

In college right now, the dorms and apartments are full of people smoking whatever and drinking booze.

I've been trying my best to keep away from the stuff as long as humanly possible. Looking through this comments section, that's probably for the better.

The long-term effects of drugs are really bad. It will destroy your brain. Just play video games, read books, binge watch movies, series, anime, hiking, biking, mountain climbing, or whatever form of escapism you prefer, just don't do drugs.

I've watched a guy in my band class go from bored suicidal to quite the junkie over the last year. He's into weed, psilocybin, acid, nicotine, and occasionally coke. He's not really the same guy I met last year.. He seems so lost without his highs these days
